This Kick Bass Pairing

What's up guys, I'm trying to recreate this Kick Bass pairing because it seems to fit together real nice. But I'm having a hard time dialing it in right.

I'm using 2 tracks, 1 for the sub with a simple sin wave which is fine and another for the low mid which is giving me the trouble.

I've tried a low pass filter and distortion on a number of different saw and square wave combinations with EQ'ing and compression but I can't get it quite right. Some tips would be great! Much appreciated.

It's usually one of the toughest things to do, if you're using a long kick, you will want to use a short bass sound and vice versa. I usually enhance some frequencies in my kick, and cut the same ones in my bass, and enhance some in my bass and cut in my kick. Also, you should always use side chain compression on your bass sound. It's not an exact science, but the first thing would be to pick a kick and bass that match each other and go from there. It also helps if you use good samples. Vengeance has some really nice samples for kicks.

Sidechain this analog. Masking occurs in this clip. Just keep practicing with compression levels and sound choice. A problem I usually have is I slam in too much sub frequencies, so try more eq cuts.

I think it's down to sidechain; the sound itself is made from sustained notes, so try to get the sounds right as a long note. It's really a couple a layers, and the low mid is both distorted and heavily EQ'd.

I refuse to give any more help that as that track is abhorrent.

if you're using Live look up Timofey and download some of the .als files he has for free on his site. He has Livesets that mimic that sound and others wherein he fully recreates note for note some popular tracks by DadaLife, Clavin Harris, Justice and the like in his tutorial section. he gives away these files for free on his site. As Rawn said, it's sustained notes sidechained by another 1/4 note kik track that usually is muted and not heard at all. One of em on his site comes very close for that timbre you're going for and it's not even with any plugins and hardly any effects..Just a few operator synths in ableton layered and playing the same sustained notes that are sidechained to make em pump...just look em up. I'd link to his site but then that would be making it waaay too easy

make sure that whatever you tend to dowlonad gets completed perfectly...

Thanks guys, and ill give Timofey a shot.

I clearly know it's a SC kick with sustained notes, I just can't seem to dial in the right amount to get it to pump as much ass this one. I feel like it hits just perfect. And I feel like they're compressed together on a bus also.

The biggest thing I can't figure out though is the actual sound design of the synth and layers. I've tried adding a bunch of distortions with a LPF or a shelf to carve off the highs.

Don't give up on me Rann! Haha I know you can redesign this in like 2 seconds. Help me out man you've given me such good advice in the past.
