I'm not buying it, I'm just looking around for now to see what might be suitable.
As for the 'noise' PC, how will I know if its a noise PC or not? |

| why dont you build your own? half the price, fun, you learn something. |

| Yeah seriously, build your own, just read instructions on a motherboard manual, takes 1 hour, 2 if you're slow. Neither of those computers had a SSD, and that thing makes a ton of difference. Think 20 sec startup time vs 2 minutes. Blu ray drive and a crappy graphics cards are pretty much useless too IMO. |

I've never built one before and I'm worried about getting something wrong. For my 21st birthday I was meant to be getting a MacBook Pro but having though it through, I think a PC is a better idea. Only thing is, I'm not sure what to look for specifically, I need a list :p |

You're 21 and never built a PC? What is the world coming to? I would abandon all technology and go live in a monastery to atone. If nothing else, at least being surrounded by asians might teach you a bit about computers :gsmile: |

I would build my own but I don't want to mess anything up as I don't really know what I'm doing. That's why I'd rather have you guys recommend an already made desktop for me to buy that I haven't got to customise as much. Are there no desktops I can buy that I won't need to alter much? |

The only alternative I can think of is to choose my parts and have a company build it for me. This site lets you choose parts you want and they build the PC for you;

Could somebody build an example for me please? The only things I really know to consider are an SSD and RAM lol, I'm a total noob. |

I think portability wins over power for the average user; my laptop follows me around the whole house. Anyway, that's something you need to decide for yourself.
I wouldn't recommend building your own computer if you aren't comfortable with it. Just research what computers are available within your price range and go buy one. It's not rocket science.
Choosing the right keyboard, monitors, audio interface and plugins should be a more important decision IMO. |

I'd much rather buy one, but then again I still hardly know what I'm looking for in terms of specs. |

That seems expensive, especially considering that it's only got 2GB RM and a single 500GB HD. You should be able to find a much better deal on a pre-built tower (e.g., from Dell, HP) with better specs for much less these days. Just make sure that its got room for additional hard dives (e.g., for music projects, sample libraries/romplers) and that the mobo can take up to 16GB RAM at a minimum.
Also, others may disagree, but I'd say that an i7 is overkill for most people. I'd save some money and go with an i5 - it's already going to blow away what you're working with now. |
