So, I usually use my Moog Rogue or my 101, layered with a drumstation and some EQ to get my kicks for my tracks. I was wondering, does anyone know of a good - free - VST to use for goa/psy kicks?
Thanks. |

| Also, you could try Synth1. That's one of the better free VSTis. |

I've never made that type of kick so my suggestion may not work for you, but anyway here is an excellent kick making freeware program - Adern KickMeToo available here:

| omac12 beat me to it. Another tool you might want to check into, while not free, is Bazzism which is pretty much made for the sole purpose of making psy kicks. |

| What is the difference between a regular kick and a psy/goa one? |

| In my brand new just started looking into it experience I'd say the psy goa kicks seem to be obviously synthetic, very hard and seem to have a longer decay. I don't mean release I mean the mallet seems to have a longer decay. Almost "squishy" in some cases I've heard. |

Not a VST but here's a good tutorial on making psy kicks from infected mushroom.
[edit]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HSIoN2c2Mk older link seems dead, try this guy's tutorial.
There's also a VST called bazzism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9Jn51ZU-VlQ#t=37
Or look at the other tutorials in this thread: http://www.psymusic.co.uk/forum/threads/how-the-pros-make-kicks.69095/ |
