Going into university next week, always loved underground house, trance, drum and bass etc. Basically anything from 1995-2002. I've lurked everywhere as to how to start DJing and sampling but I had no luck. All I'm asking is how do I start and what do I buy. Once I get those two things down I know you'll like my music. I want to make music in my dorm and bring back the electronic music that we all know and love.

The general concept is pretty simple man, just grab some gear and practice, practice, practice. You'll need decks and a mixer. If you're a fan of the 'art' and the 'old school', grab a pair of used tech 12's and used mixer off kijiji. Pair that with traktor unless you're prepared to invest some serious time and money into tracking down records and/or ordering online from overseas and dealing with shipping. Or you can go completely digital. Something like a DDJ-T1 or a even a pair of Kontrol X1's with a basic mixer. Doesn't really matter what gear you grab tbh, you're just starting out and you need to invest some serious time to get the skillsets down, don't worry about the kit too much.

You should put up an ad on Kijiji "Will suck dope wang for Dj training". You cant learn here or the DJ booth sub-form!
