| quote: | “The president is commander-in-chief. With that power comes obligations,” Boehner said. “One, of course, is to consult with Congress on the options he sees as a viable response,” Boehner said. “Meaningful consultation should happen before any military action is taken.”
A Boehner aide told the Washington Examiner earlier that no one from the Obama administration or his national security team has contacted Congress about actions they are considering against the Assad regime, which administration officials believe was responsible for the recent chemical weapons attack against its own citizens.
Boehner cited poll numbers that show Americans don’t want to get involved in a new conflict.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Aug. 25 found that 60 percent of Americans do not want President Obama to intervene in Syria’s civil war while just 9 percent said the United States should get involved. The number of those who support intervention increased to 25 percent if it is shown that chemical weapons have been used.
The shallow support for intervention, Boehner said,”underscores the need for the president to fully explain what is at stake and outline why he believes action is necessary.” |

| quote: | “We have two options: either to surrender, or to defend ourselves with the means at our disposal. The second choice is the best; we will defend ourselves,” said Foreign Minister Walid Muallem. “If the US Army together with NATO launch an operation against Syria, there won’t be an easy victory,” the agency quoted a military-diplomatic source as saying.
The Syrian minister said he was confident that Russia, a key ally of the Assad regime, would not abandon Damascus.
“I can assure you that Russia has not abandoned Syria. Our relations continue in all fields, and we thank Russia for its support,” Muallem told reporters. |

The upper edge of this steep slope paints an ugly picture: In America, the rate of homelessness increases as more people starve to death, 'college students' struggle to pay-back mountains of debt where cities like Detroit sit at the brink of bankruptcy, all the while U.S citizens are continuously targeted by a bellicose National Security Agency and a handful of drones that aim to keep 'order' and 'structure' in the land of 'democracy'.
None of this matters, America must prove itself all over again by intervening in a country that has no effect on the lives of everyday americans. This country could become energy independent in 2020, why does the U.S feel the need to 'set the record straight' one more time?!
Let the pigs kill themselves senselessly. |

Homelessness rises but if Democrats propose a bill to give aid to homeless people or poor people the people like you will call it socialism and it'd get blocked in the House in all likelihood.
So again, kill yourself. |

| One of the single biggest problems with the US is that you have no socialism. It's still the wild west, every man for himself. That isn't how society works, never has, never will. |

Seems to me a few people don't appreciate America, in this thread.
Do you need a few tons of freedom dropped onto your life? |

And don't get me started on Britain? Why is Cameron pressuring for military intervention? Is this his Falklands moment ?!
Seriously, Britain should focus on improving the living conditions of its people. In two years, Mexico will have a better economy than the UK. It just pisses me off, you want to be the joke of the town, Britain? You're not a superpower anymore! Stop acting like one! For sake, your country is almost a third world country, how dare you try to teach someone else how to run theirs, hen you can't even hold yours together?
I am proud of my English heritage, but I'm ashamed of Britain today.
Why can't we be more like Norway and Sweden? Why?! |
