Wait, I clicked on production, not on music discussion.. |
Halve the battle in production is catching the mood, so this certainly interests me.
I like the grimy classic mid 90's house feel.
Could loose myself on the floor to this stuff.
Here's my nomination;
Raphie was ahead of the curve a year back saying he was sick of over hyped production values and enjoying a more stripped back EDM. |

Yeah, didn't think so. Its good to have at least a tiny idea of what they play in the edm capitol of Europe, before making statements on what music styles dj's play.
your finger is so far removed from the pulse of EDM, that the only beat you're feeling is your heart pushing blood through your humongous hemmorhoids. |
sorry to say that ive been in berlin many times visiting the best clubs avaliable at the time (tresor etc), but yeah its a long time ago and i havent been clubbing in ages. that doesnt mean i dont know what good music is anymore, and this isnt really it. i need some more challenges than a nice beat with a moog base. i listen to speedy j mostly the latest years and id imagine that stuff would work sooo much better in a club than this cheese house stuff, but i have never had the chance to listen to him live when i was interested in going out clubbing (right now im mostly going to relaxing rock clubs or piano/karaoke bars to enjoy my beer in peace with my friends without being bugged by manic ravers and distorting PAs). i have been on richie hawtin, adam beyer and magda events though to name a few being some of the coolest clubbing experiences i had in more recent years (07/08 i think), in addition to hyperstate and subcity at the age of 17 of course lol. yeah, my clubbing days are over (they werent that intense ever either) but get of your high villa/blå horse bro :) |

yeah forgot to put "lately" on the end :P
old school house elements are really big in berlin nowadays. ergo, this would go over well there i believe.
havent been to a club in ages, except i played at spor 53 or wtf its called with a few friends not that long ago ;O |

I didn't hear anything amazing in those to mixes except everything was clear. |

| all producing is really is putting sounds and melody and percussion togeher .. mixing it down and making it flow smoothly.. that's all it really is.. |

lol
Building a car is easy. All you need is a frame, engine, transmission, and body... then you put it together, make sure it's tightly screwed in and have some gas in it... that's all it really is... |

Someone always says this in reference to tech house or minimal songs. "It's just mixed really well". "The skill is in the mixing".
For s sake, there's only 3 instruments; kick, beep 1, beep 2. How do you NOT mix that well?

I do agree.
Don't know why such obviousness should be scandalous. |

| Could easily just sample out the kick and snare out of those songs, then try your luck at producing something similar. |

| Detox is a ing bomb when it was released hooked me on the first listen but production wise it's very cool mixed, good kick and bass which is a must for tech house. But what really stands out is the ideas involved, all the elements that appear smoothly on the track, the percs, the trumpet at the end... very well executed this is hardly teached it's mostly natural ideas. |
