"when one has discovered the meaning of life..its because they are happy...."
what do yall think about this statement... |

well its a novel idea. i dont know if i agree tho. cause going by a similar logic, anyone who is happy even for a fleeting moment hasnt necessarily discovered the meaning of life. even if something makes you happy for a long time, eventually even that may not entertain you forever...
i also think that part of life is being depressed and feeling like , people that act happy all the time often seem to have deeper seeded problems than people that can allow themselves to feel lonely, depressed, etc. ont the other side tho, people that wont allow themselves to be happy are missing out on *part* of the meaning of life, if not all of it.
...maybe there is no -meaning- that our brains can understand? |

| Well personally, I suspect that life does not have a "meaning" per se. But if it did, I doubt it would have anything to do with happiness. |

Keeping it simple and sweet...
Life is what you make of it...
Live it cause its short and not long....
If it was long it would be BORING!!!
Trust me... that's whwy everything is faster... faster cars. planes blah blah blah...
THink of life as a journey of suprises... then try and encourage yourself to learn more about yourself and others... |

maybe the answer is just too weird for our minds to think of.
think about the start of the universe for example, all the scientists come up with theories, but wat if the answer was sooooo farfetched, that no one could of possibly thought of it, coz itz just so complicated so weird, just beyond our wildest thoughts beyond our level of thinking... that might be similar to those other 'very hard to answer' questions like 'meaning of life' itz just so out there, no one will ever be able to think @ that level.
but then again, there might not be a meaning of life, so all those people who think too hard will have wasted precious time.:D |

I think the very formulation "the meaning of life" is wrong and ambigious. What is meant by "life"? My life? The existence of the human race? The existence of life in general, and then - how do we define life? Does seaweed have a meaning of its life?
"Meaning" is also broadly defined - I wont't elaborate as you all probably have catched on to what I'm trying to say.
However, if we assume that "the meaning of life" is meant to be some kind of pre-determined purpose justifying our existance, then I think that saying it only is to be happy, must be simplifying things. Assuming that some will/god/etc. meant us to be in the first place (and hence a pre-determined purpose exists), there must be some other non-egoistic purpose than simply being happy. Why would we be put into this world if only to have as much fun as possible?
My argument would work as well if we just consider out parents as the ones who decided we should exist. In that case the meaning of life would brobably be to entertain them, grant them grandchildren and take care of them when they get old :) |

i dont agree with it...
the meaning of life is somehting no one will ever find...and if someone does find it, they will be blind to it. a person can be happy without believing they've found the meaning of life |
