the original release vs. the reissue

| Do you care about the original release especially if the reissue is cheaper? Does it matter at all or does prestige factor into this? |

When it comes to CDs, a reissue is almost always going to be of better quality than an original 20+ year old CD. Many were recorded with poorer quality, and may also show signs of the aluminum oxidizing by now. Plus, bonus tracks!
If you're talking vinyl, I guess it all depends on the quality of wax and pressing. I'd imagine most reissues would be better, given the advances of cutting technology, plus the general wear-and-tear of vinyl from repeated plays over the years. If you're just after an original copy to put on a shelf and show off your chin-stroking pals though... |

| Depends on the release. The track may be the same, but for a collector there are just some must owns. Even the original packaging can make your salute like the Hitler youth. |

| interesting points. I don't regret buying my reissues, but in hindsight I would've bought the original releases even if it required a bigger budget. |
