What is your longest period of being in a rut?

I have had a period since May until September, luckily I'm back in the game now. How long is yours?

Drifting in and out of depression, exacerbated by an insatiable urge to sell up and move to the UK means I haven't done much in over six months.

I never lack ideas but often get into a rut in terms of making productions.

My best way of getting ideas is to around on your synth - preferably 1 synth you know inside out rather than 6 you know vaguely, for hours at a time and you will stumble across something. Try not to go for the first thing that sounds pleasant - keep pushing it and playing for hours. (btw I can never properly record my playing because I've always had a massive midi delay issue)

I've realised that my trusty old Roland Fantom synth has depths I will never fully penetrate, whereas once I thought I'd done it to death. Sometimes I feel all you really need is one synth and as you get to know it better and better it's like a gardener getting better each year at producing veg from his little plot.

Don't know that I'd call it a rut, but the last year and a half or so has been pretty brutal in terms of musical output for me. Between trying to balance my family time with my sometimes crazy work schedule, losing my dad and another sister, traveling, being sick, etc., I just haven't had much quality time to be be creative and, when I do, I'm not always in the most creative mood. Things have been looking up lately, though, and I've got a few songs close to completion.

4 months. Although not really a rut , i just needed a vacation and i stopped doing any music. But started to notice everything kinda go. I mean i would lose that discipline and momemtum i have when i have a daily routine. Other than a few burnouts in my life, no ruts really. And it is my only source of income so being in a rut means i can't buy friends.

The worst thing is to stop, to be at peak you have to be an oiled up machine, the more intense you are the more reward thats why I take 150mg of tren and prop eod everyday.
