correct me if I'm wrong but by consensus, 1999 is considered the year of trance. What about progressive house though? I assume it's the 2nd most popular subgenre ever on TA so I just wanted to ask.

idk if progressive house has a "the year", but the period between 98~2004 is the best imo.

ah yes brethren. 1998 was a splendid, unforgettable year in prog house. :D

1993 was the peak of true progressive house. The list of anthems is peerless: Little Bullet, Cowgirl, For What You Dream Of, Open Up, Slid, De Niro, Packet Of Peace, Water From A Vine Leaf, Compass Error, Schudelfloss... It goes on and on.

In terms of worldwide popularity, it was probably 2001. Progressive was truly omnipresent in that year: every track seemed to have a progressive remix on the B-side.

my answer in the back of my head while making this thread was also 1993. matter of fact, I was thinking about making a 1993 mix.

I guess it's 2001 then if we're talking about worldwide popularity. :(

so progressive house at its peak overlapped for a couple of years. Interesting brethren, I should've thought of that.

I remember Slacker - Scared and N.B.G. - Groovebird were hits so 1996 and 1997 are years I would mention next to tracks back to 1992. I don't think I'm able to pick one year as peak.

why not? can anyone just give a straight answer? :haha:
Trance-MB
Well maybe it just never really did peak enough. Probably personal taste will make everyone pick different years.
Okay, by using a long list over the years maybe it would be possible to pick one.

which is 1993 to be blunt. this is when Guerilla had the most activity going on when they were active, and Spooky made 3 classic singles before he abandoned progressive house for some experimental stuff.
