| ive had more western digitals fail on me... actually every one ive ever owned (5 or 6) eventually quit being recognized by my computer. The hard drive was fine but the connection was crap. Take out the hard drive and connect it to another enclosure, worked every time for me. Ive obviously learned my lesson and quit buying them but we had one at work do the same thing so it is what ill be doing tomorrow fun. |

A neodymium magnet will do, that way you don't even have to take it out.
I'm seriously going to test that, always wanted to know, but never tried. |
