Even the paid for units are cheap I think.

RP Distort is good, with lots of LFO'able stuff.

Is this the latest version (i.e., Kombinat Dva)? If not, maybe consider upgrading.

As usual, Geoff's suggestion for RP Distort is good.

Also, I still love Camel Audio CamelPhat, which is a multi-effect that is based around a distortion/unit plugin. They also have CamelCrusher - a nice little freebie that is an oldie-but-goodie.

Fxpansion Maul is getting a bit more expensive at $99, but it's a nice multi-band distortion that is far more user friendly than Ohmicide.

I think you have too much overlap with those plugins. Saturn already does everything that the other two do.

1. FabFilter Saturn
2. U-he Satin, TB ReelBus or Kramer Tape
3. D16 Decimort or TB TimeMachine
4. GuitarRig or Amplitube

Any combination of these 4 gives you basically every type of distortion you would ever need. Saturn gets you 90% of the way there on its own, with tube/tape/digital saturation, various amp simulations, multi-band features and creative effects from all the modulation features. Beyond that point, you're really just specialising; dedicated tape simulation (extra variables like WOW and flutter), bit crushing (extra variables like downsampling) and amp simulation (extra cab, mic and other variables).

To be honest I don't think I've heard another distortion plug-in that sounds quite like Ohmicide. Saturn is very good too don't get me wrong, but it still doesn't have the same saturation character that ohmicide does, that thing is just filthy...
I've demo'd both these and want them both lol. I've had my share of distortion pedals and units over the years too and have a fair deal of experience with distorion/overdrive.

If you're really keen on it, Musician's Friend has Ohmicide on sale for $29: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-...effects-plug-in

you may well be right - thanks for mentioning Decimort, have heard good things about it and could do with a quality bitcrusher!

me............how ING annoying is that stupid ing license manager thing that fxpansion use - demoing Maul but im afraid its pretty much an instant delete - then couple that with that stupid ing mouse pointer bug with all their ing plugins in Live - 'kin hell!!!!!!!!!!
TranceElevation
Surprised nobody mentioned Softube's saturation knob. The absolutely best out there imo.
