Your best purchase, something that has really worked for you in the long haul.

Logic 10

I had to wait at least month before I can use it and didn't buy Pro Tools 11. I never loved a DAW so much.

Second The Virus TI

Learned a lot about programming my own presets with this piece of hardware alone.

Third Primacoustic Iso Pads

My mixes and equing never sounded better.

So whats yours and why?

Cubase and Pro Q

That just works.

G&L L-2000 - my main bass, which I've owned for going on two decades. It's probably seen well over a thousand gigs/sessions and someday I hope to see my boy rockin' out on stage with it (although it still probably weighs more than he does).

Sonar - with the exception of X1, it's been my go-to DAW for years.

Pro-Q - yup, gotta agree with Geoff again. This plugin lives on nearly every track in every project.

Virus TI2 & Kurzweil PC3X - I never start or finish a track without these two instruments/controllers.

V-Control Pro (iPad DAW-control app) - it's been an integral part of my studio for years now.

Yamaha HS80Ms.

I need someone like L4C to calibrate my room for treatment cuz right now i can't hear the difference. After i buy my balanced furman power conditioner I'm going straight for treatment.

Actually in the setup I have now I'm going to add these K701's to the list as well. Despite the fact I just can't balance a mix on cans, I do find it massively easier to hear the details of a mix and get all the subtractive EQ'ing done on these fine headphones.

probably the virus b desktop though I've since sold it, regretfully

but I sold it for the same amount that I paid for it, and used it for 5 years

From many studios that I've seen, mpc, nord lead and machinedrum are really popular.

Personally I really liked my akg k240 headphones, great sound.

The best thing I have ever bought is my Yamaha P-105 digital piano. Having a proper set of keys and pedals in my house again has really helped my music. I play piano for 15-30 minutes most mornings now.

Second best thing is my Roland A-49 MIDI controller. I never had a keyboard with a joystick before this and now I'm a convert. Wheels suck!
DJ RANN
Three things;

1, My Technics SL1210MK5G's. Aside from them being a masterclass in design form and functionality, no other piece of equipment has ever gotten close to the tactile relationship these invoke. Basically the design hadn't changed in 35 years because Matsua got it so damn ing right. I've owned Technics 1210's since I was 15 (before every cvnt and their mum was a DJ) and I can't really see me ever not having them in the house.

2, My Vestax PMC 55a. Yes, I know I've banged on about it in the DJ booth but then again, it is one of the greatest mixers ever built, and I love that I have as much connectivity as some small studio mixers, but it feels like a DJ mixer. It was discontinued in 2002 but I have an unopened, boxed one waiting in my cupboard just case my current one ever dies.

3, My trusty 2008 Imac. I can't help but think I hit the sweet spot with this one. Every so often, through the evolution of a product that sees many several revisions, one seems to stand the test of time and somehow hits the right balance of function vs cost vs longevity. I can't really believe I'm using a 5+ computer as my ITB DAW, and I see no point on the horizon (unless Apple decide to me and make mavericks non compatible with my generation) where I would upgrade. The only thing I've done is bung in an SSD and more RAM. The thing just keeps giving.
