Atb in concert review?

| Did anyone go either of the shows in sf or la last weekend? If so what was the ambient component of the show and was atb playing during that portion or he he come out for the dj set? I am going to the ny show in sat and am trying to plan what time I should arrive at. Thanks! |

i showed up late just in time for the concert.
i heard the ambient set was just ATB's music playing but he's not actually on stage spinning. There were ballerina dancers during the ambient stage i believe. |

| I showed up to the SF show late. Caught the last 20 minutes of his DJ set. Typical ATB stuff. The concert on the other hand, wasn't my cup of tea. A lot of live vocalists and band material. It would've been a decent show if he would just STOP TALKING so much in between songs. If you were going looking for an rafe like environment, you probably wouldn't have enjoyed the live set. Overall, will never do an ATB in concert again. I think he was trying to copy the Armin Only and Tiesto in concert concept but fail IMHO. |

| Did he open with 'Ecstasy', or play a short sample of 9pm when the crowd got bored so he could get a cheap pop of their attention? I'm sure he also had to have played Smells Like Teen Spirit/Song 2 in there somewhere as well. |

ya i wish i went to QDance instead.
He opened with Apollo Road mashup ease my pain w/e ty version it is.
then it went straight to Ectasy but it was Sean Ryan on vocals. I thought it was really unique and different.
Yes he did play smell like teen spirit
they did play the 9pm song in the end with live guitar which was good. not a short sample |

Went to the SF show instead of Q-dance.
Was let down.
Not a fan of his but didnt want to miss a live show.
The DJ gig was well, he umm.. wasn't there for it really.
The live set he did some 60 percent new tracks from the next cd.
This is where he failed.
Rather than go instrumental on tracks he has without vocals, he stuck to a vocal track pretty much every song.
I was expecting 2 new ones, and the rest older tracks gone instrumental.
And the sound was off. Could barely make out the keyboards. It was all drums and guitar and vocals. Like the left the keyboard and electronic components out entirely (even though they had them in).
Needed more planning for this kind of tour to take form.
Still glad I went because i do like to see electronic music live.
But this wasnt what i had hoped it would be. |

| kind of interesting that all these DJ's are trying to do "live" sets now. are they trying to be recognized as musicians or something? |

typical. and as you know ATB is a trainwreck on decks. horrible transitioning. i would recommend only the concert part for the experience but never again. Like i said, i wish i went to Q dance instead for the crazy lazer production and boing boing hardstyle music. |

pretty much LOL!!! ATB even admitted that on stage saying he wants to prove that Dance Music can be played by instruments or something along the line. It's not just unce unce created in studio |
