| mid/side processing, compression/expansion, filter slope control, plus the different phase modes which is clutch. what else would you even want to see in this? |

.....the ability to sidechain one part of a sound with the other.
That bit where he sidechained the bottom end of the guitar to the mid/high pluck :eyes: |

Vst hosting on each band.
Basically since the MB7 came out it killed the competition. I was curious to see if FF were able to counterattack, but they couldn't. |

No, it hasn't. Sales of the Pro-MB are already through the roof - look around the web and see how many people are already buying it and raving about it. Besides, the MB-7 is not the competition for the Pro-MB. Blue Cat has the MB-5 Dynamix, which is the Pro-MB's direct competition. The MB-7 is a niche product and it's basically a multiband frequency/width mixer with per-band plugin subhosting. It's very cool, but it's neither a multiband compressor nor expander. They're two different types of products and there are plenty of people out there who will have both (esp. PT users due to the MB-7's ability to host VSTs in PT11). |

I know what is MB7, but let's not get lost in the definitions. A matter of a fact is it can be ALSO a multi-band compressor. Split it in 5 bands and insert the Pro-C on each one of them, you got the Pro-MB.
And regarding the sales amount, this ain't really an argument for me. |

Except that you would also need to load an expander, and you still wouldn't have the ability to sidechain between bands, you wouldn't have access to each band's Pro-C parameters from one GUI, etc. So, it's not a perfect solution and most people looking for a MB comp are going to buy a MB comp, rather than trying to rig one together using MB-7 and a bunch of compressor plugins.
But, look, don't get me wrong. I'm totally with you that the MB-7 is an awesome plugin and arguably one of the biggest game-changers in the plugin market this year. My point is only that it hasn't really "killed the competition" because, well, it doesn't really have any competition and it's not really a direct competitor to the Pro-MB.
I can't wait to load Pro-MB into my MB-7 for 42 bands of compression. :) |

| From a technical point of view you are totally correct, but from a conceptual perspective I stand where I am. At least for me, the Pro-MB doesn't bring anything I'd consider essential to my arsenal. |

I think you could argue that a high-quality dedicated MB compressor is not essential to most people's arsenals (mine included), but it's nice to have a good one when you want/need it. |
