One of these gave me a great idea for a track.

Btw, for being digital, Massive does truly honour its name.

That's really all down to my immense towering skill.

Never tried to diminish your merit in all this.

Hehe

Massive is nice, it's good at getting large sounds out of.

I'm not too keen on it for the standard supersaw/unison thang though, it's a bit metallic and grainy sounding there.

Great for leads though, especially with all the modulation possibilities and wavetables to LFO up.
TranceElevation
I've always been intrigued by its sound. Once I toyed with some presets but never went deeper into it. At the time I was giving priority to other synths, so I abandoned.
I also noticed the metallic character of it, but for the low-end this wasn't a disadvantage. In general I was impressed by its deep and imperfect low end + the amount of timbres it could produce.

Btw, I'd like to get my hands on FM synthesis. Do you think Massive could be a good start? I'm pretty ignorant on the subject.
tehlord
To be honest my grasp of FM is rudimentary at best. I get the theory, I've just never delved enough to truly feel the sound sculpting potential of it.

I'm not convinced that Massive is really indicative of a traditional FM synth either as the FM section effects the filters, and isn't strictly the usual carrier/modulator layout of something like FM8.

You're quite right there imo too. Massive is a bit limited with its FM capabilities. FM8 is a much better choice if you're wanting to dive right into FM sounds, though Reaktor is more flexible particularly when it comes to filter FM and feedback. I also love the sound of Bazille for FM.

Massive is a great synth, but for me it gets the least use of all NI's synths.

Nice demos tehlord.
