you know what's good about this years results? the fact that all these trace producers who started doing electro/trouse hoping they would gain more crowd, dropped a lot on the list. what's next for them? obviously doing trouse at this point and on isn't gonna work for them.. and they can't return to trance cause they have become sell outs long time ago, so people won't give a .

21. Markus Schulz (down 8)
32. Paul Van Dyk (down 16)
33. ATB (down 12)
39. Sander Van Doorn (down 21)

all the top 10 guys and guys like them whore themselves all over for votes. but you got guys like sasha, digweed and carl cox (who only made the list)
who still probly charge alot of money and can pack a crowd even tho their name isent on this list. you know why? cause they have established themselves are true artists over the years and their fans know this list is all bull now
lemme see steve aoki do 8 hour solo sets

so to sum it all up i think this whole list thing is rigged with $ thrown at the mag by both the artists and their managment/labels etc etc

it's just the EDM explosion in the US that has done it. The kids here will listen to any old out here. it would be interesting to see how the Top 100 would look if it was voting country specific or a breakdown of where votes came in from every country

It's just not a true reflection at all, DJ Mag and RA have become two separate entities and that's fine because it's two completely different kinds of music.

There's no way that "Wasted Penguinz" has more fans in the world than Sasha, Digweed or Dubfire (all of whom have dropped off the top 100 completely.) The poll just has a different fan base so let's just treat it as such.

Trance does really get the short end of the stick though.

I noticed this too, but let's notice something even more telling about this list:

Markus Schulz, I would say, is the DJ among these DJs that did the least "selling out." He stuck to his dark, techy brand of big room prog trance, and kept doing 6-14 hour sets all over the world. So of all the huge trance names that went the trouse route, I'd say he stuck to his roots the most.

He dropped the smallest portion out of all of them.

I think this is, in a way, proof that sticking to your loyal fanbase while continuing to try to push the music you loved from the start is better for an artist overall. The other sellouts like Arty and Gareth Emery experienced a year of popularity increase from a bunch of YOLOs who went to two festivals and moved on to Hardwell and Diplo or whoever is the next leader in the loudness war and then forgot all about them.

I think Markus will continue to succeed in the future, he's always been a great DJ.

Aly & Fila should be the biggest example of trance artists staying loyal to their sound/fans. dropped from 19 to 20.

Also a great example, even more so than Markus. I think it applies to Markus too, though.
