2013 has been a menagerie of riches for dirtybird crew-members and founders of Pets Recordings, Catz ‘n Dogz. The Polish duo Greg and Voitek graced the hallowed decks for their debut BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, released their much anticipated Stinky Lollipop EP with Eats Everything, hosted the much-coveted Boiler Room and are now set to hit the road for their It’s Raining Catz 'n Dogz Tour. On November 14, the duo will take to the road for a 12 date North American tour, that includes stops in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and will show the States why the rest of the world barked up a storm for their Ibiza residency, with dirtybird this past summer.
Despite consistently cracking Resident Advisor’s holier-than-thou top 100 list, being toasted throughout the underground and notching up accolades for their scorching deep house sound, Catz 'n Dogz are first and foremost fun lovers. Whether through their idiosyncratic track titles “Twardzioszek,” “Jon Bovi” and “Professor Nice Love”, or in their no holds barred approach to DJing, they refuse to take themselves too seriously, yet its clear that with releases for Get Physical, Crosstown Rebels and dirtybird, the Polish duo are no joke.
As head dogz of their own label, Pets Recordings, they have released tracks from many of their friends including Acid Pauli, Ben Westbeech, Eats Everything and more. Each month a guest mix is featured for the irresistible Petcast, which is accompanied by a hilarious pet related video. Previous episodes have included Midi the Cat introducing Chamara Winter, Nick Monaco displaying his awesome workout skilz, and Trikk who was joined by MC Hammer, for their pet awareness PSA. Pets is a beloved brand globally, and has showcased the label’s talents via “Pets Parties” on large scales at WMC, SONAR and BPM Festival.
Originally adopted by dirtybird back in 2008, Catz 'n Dogz and the SF crew was a natural marriage, both are fellow animal lovers and more importantly, party-starters. dirtybird’s Mothership released the first two Catz ‘n Dogz albums, they also appeared on dirtybird’s 2012 “Hatched” compilation, and released the Good Love EP with KiNK this year, foreshadowing what we can expect from their 2014 album for dirtybird.
