Has anyone here been following this label? They've been around for a while and have gotten a lot of attention for their rather unique sound. They released a CD compilation of the label's catalogue recently which received pretty rave reviews across the board (4,5 on RA)
A lot of people seem to be calling it one of the most exciting UK labels in recent times and I tend to agree. Their music is totally out there, somewhere in the post-dubstep no man's land between garage, dubstep, bass music, techno and god knows what. In spite of legions of UK producers trending towards classic house and techno this is stone cold, bass driven UK sound but in a way that has learned and evolved from dubstep.

| Seems to pick up the "space within (after) dubstep"-baton where Skull Disco left off, particularly Shackleton's percussion and Appleblim's techno leanings. Nothing to start raving about, but definitely good for the ears and the floor in a world full of either plodding dullness or relentless midrange abuse. Always rated Kowton quite highly, but they all need to work on writing better melodies, from the quick listen I had to the compilation online. |

| Not bad, I especially like the stripped-down beats and percussion in Aztec Chant. |

I agree that it's not the most mindblowing stuff ever but I think people are raving about it because as you've said, almost everything in the post-Skrillex era of the dubstep continuum has been either downright terrible or incredibly bland so this stuff stands out. |

| I've got the Aztec Chant EP and I think one other Pev & Kowton release (the Hessle release maybe? forget). I like this sound. It's interesting, and difficult for me to mix well. |
