okay. i'll bite and give you a detailed break down why i wont raise my hands up in the air for this song.
im huge fan of uplifting trance. i had to convert after my trance was slowly being overtaken by electro. Certainly they can't uplift trouse can they?
Unfortunately we're coming to find out, that yes, they can. Just not straight in uplifting trance, yet..but in Psy? they can. Most of the psychadelic sub-styles have always had detuned baselines and effect in their song structures.
This song is "uplifting" psy. But we knew that the moment we saw the names of Okie and Angry man together . Unfortunately "uplifting" psy has a lot of detuned baselines song stucture in general and therefore electro fits in there so easy. hence why i believe the next overtake of electro "trouse" will be in the fast bpm of psy or what is being called recently psytrouse. It's that overdriven white-detuned-monster in the background that kills every song. This one also has it. its is more subtle. but its there. i could hear the (side chained-compressed detuned-white noised) riser effect building up with in the first 16 seconds.
For some reason i hate trouse effect and build ups and the moment a song has them i automatically reject a song. think of it as a bad vocal verse. the song could be constructed very good but with bad vocals it will never make it.
i think this song would have been much better if it was stripped of that detuned white noise. it was left at a true psy baseline it would've been so good. but they have to have as much noise as possible so it can be up-par with the electro overtake everywhere. definitely Okies decision to have this gone trousy. he probably put an overdriven detuned filter at the master channel. you can hear it everywhere. at the claps. hats . one shot percs. detuned saw bassline. even the vocals you can hear the "kzzz" tail.
sorry man. find a cleaner version and i'll be there with you : ) |
