This Saturday I played first set on a boat party going up and down the Thames. It was an interesting set to play as the first 30-40 mins or so was people boarding the boat and then queuing at the bar but I had a pretty full dance floor by the end. Not necessarily the most adventurous in terms of track selection but I think its good fun! Bonus points for anyone who can guess the costume...

Dave! I was about to text you. What time is your set on Saturday?
I've been meaning to your last set - haven't had chance yet. I'll add this one to the pile as well, perhaps for the train to Manchester. |

| Well that what I was going to ask - if you're going to be in Manchester on your own from 7pm I don't mind coming across around that time and having some drinks, but if you'll have company I'll probably get there just before it opens. |

| I imagine I'll be on my own when I arrive so some company would be grand! |

This was most excellent, Dave. While I don't get any sense of Halloween theme from it whatsoever, I do get a very autumnal vibe. This strain of progressive, as espoused by the likes of Hope and Distinct'ive in the early 2000s, generates an awful amount of nostalgia for me - it reminds me of my first years listening to dance music, and the trends, the styles and the sounds of that era are so firmly entrenched in my subconscious they still feel in some way how the club scene is "supposed" to be. I suppose back then I filed away the melodic trance at the end of summer and listened to the more atmospheric progressive stuff as the leaves came down.
Whatever the reason, this mix was a perfect accompaniment this morning to broad frosty blue skies streaked with vapour trails and low autumn sun. I've seen you profitably mine this seam of early-'00s breaksy proggy stuff on several occasions previously, so it seems you have a similar affection for this sound and era. As usual, the mixing and flow were nigh-on unfaultable, bringing the best out of the tracks. The remix of Superstylin' in particular put a huge grin on my face on the bus this morning. This one will most definitely be getting hammered for the next few months. Now I just need to catch up to your last I Like This. |
