Hey everyone,
this is my first post here and I thought what better way to get involved than to post my recent interview with Armin Van Buuren for www.ixdaily.com! I am a budding media correspondent/student and was afforded the privilege to sit down with the legend right before he hit the stage in Montreal. We talked about the state of electronic music, being both a father and DJ, ASOT650, and the commercial success of 'This Is What It Feels Like'!
Some of the sound quality was lost due to his hotel's inability to turn off the lobby music and the guests chatting in the background, but overall it is a great segment and he divulges some amazing answers. Hope you enjoy:) If you do please share!

Nothing new I would say, but it must have been really nice for you to interview him, just use a mic next time.
I sometimes get the feeling people can't believe or can't stand he's truly a nice person.
Since you're from Canada and Ben Liebrand, who inspired many Dutch DJ's (also Armin), lives in Canada too, try to interview him when you get the chance, he's the not so famous, but the true legend of our country. |

| We actually had an external mic, a shotgun, some booms and personal equips going...The music was just so loud and the people talking in the lobby were a bit nuts. Unfortunately that was out of our control and we did as much as we could to limit the volume. |

I meant a mic at an inch of the person speaking, but I'm sure next time will be better. |

Maybe next time you should ask him about why he no longer supports underground atists like he used to? He used to play a lot of progressive stuff which he hardly plays on his show. I mean if you listen to his show from 2001 - 2003 you'll find a lot of amazing stuff. I don't care about his pop concerts, but with his radioshow, has gone down the drain sorry to go off topic and if I am sounding too negative here but most people who interview him don't ask him tough questions anymore. What's his obsession of playing the same artists over and over as well?
Yeah it's kinda hard to hear what you are asking because of the music being played in the background. |

you should have asked him...
why he said he would never play as cheesy dj sammy back in like 2004 and now he plays cheesier? why does he pander to the audience instead of educating them or showing them something new?
how much input does Armada have on how artists tunes should sound? and as such - does it actually stop being art and start becoming a product? is there any art left on armada?
does he ever feel guilty when he is interviewed by mainstream press about how he lords himself as the king of underground trance and how he will always be trance - when in all reality he is not underground at all and the whole trance thing is highly debateable?
also as he 'made trance before it was called trance' - please get him to show you some of his 1992 trance productions
and finally how is his prediction of 'more rap vocals in trance' is working out?
i double dare you |

He should feel guilty about letting his army of fans down by not winning the DJ Mag poll every year. Ungrateful bastard, whore yourself out more so you can keep winning it!:p |
