Well, I've been accepted into the AF's Master's program...but my degree is going to be in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science, which they don't have...so I have to go to a regular University...which means I have to actually get accepted into one thru their regular admissions process.
I've been rattling my brain on the "Statement of Purpose" that all the universities i'm applying to require (FSU, Utah, Creighton, Texas A&M). did anyone have to do something like this before? each place tells me to limit to one page or 1,000 words max :/ |

| I was doing a bachelor in sound and music production, but I didn't like the school, the classes were way too basic even after a year, and it was way overpriced too, especially when I'd just be doing it for the diploma. Oh wells. Thinking of maybe doing some courses now tho, but I don't know about a degree lol. |

| What does the term "grad school" actually mean to you people? Is it any master level degree or does it mean doing a PhD? The posts in here confuse me... |

Master's or higher, I think. Pretty much anything after 'under-grad' (under-grad being that 3-4 years that you spend drinking, after you finish high school... maybe some Uni lectures in there). |

What Stu said -- it's masters or higher. under-grad would be bachelor's degree level. |

Yep, I had to do one. Mine was around 300 words though. Limit yourself to one page, written as a letter format, imo. For a Master's program, admissions isn't going to read past one page.
Focus on what you will add to the University and why they will benefit having you on their campus. Did those random volunteering jobs? Any awards you received for leadership? Any skills you learned through jobs relating to time management, communication, etc that will help you succeed in a post graduate setting?
It's like going to a job interview. Just tailor who you are to the university and program you are applying to. The admissions people want to make sure you won't fail and will be someone they won't have to worry about (giving a bad rep to the program/school, not completing your course work adequately, etc). If you show them that you are a responsible, mature, and determined student, and your marks are good for the course, then you're gtg. |
nice thanks. |

| It's funny how after a couple years of work experience my mind has quite changed about grad school. I still want to pursue a masters...just probably not in nursing. Want to spread myself out a bit/not put all of my eggs in one basket. Maybe health policy or even some business . Not sure if I want to keep it somewhat relevant to my current education or go in another direction altogether. I have lots of options, at least. |
