| Pretty much listen to everything with Dubstep(really chill stuff) being the newest addition. Never got out of the Trance phase, it just doesn't get fed as much these days. |

i think the natural successor for most was progressive ala bedrock. you were almost certainly exposed to this naturally when following the trance scene, and there was even an overlap at one point - progressive style tracks were often used as a warm up to trance sets and cd's - and progressive trance itself offering a more mature alternative to their euphoric counterpart.
i followed trance as far as i could - through it's various variants and off-shoots.
there was a hard trance and a hard house phase - thanks to flutlicht and shokk, and labels like tidy trax and nukleuz.
pre-minimal techno was always a bit of a main stay. mauro picotto was a hero both with his cheesy trance anthems and then his techno style (again, pre-minimal)
tech-trance was another, pioneered by svd, and the electro phase was mildly followed - the decline of ferry corsten, and the rise of the bedroom producer - which killed off trance altogether. from there, all the big name producers which everyone followed either disappeared or sold out to stay 'relevant'.
minimal remains a blotch on todays dance scene. able to drain the soul of the most accomplished track with its influence. |

well, it started out with a bit of McProg (thoroughly enjoyed Gabriel & Dresden's EM from March 9th 2003), then around '04-'05 I went through a rock/"nu-metal" phase. System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine, Muse, Placebo, Pearl Jam, Radiohead...
That went on for a while, then I discovered post-rock (mostly 3rd wave / crescendocore), shoegaze, j-rock (Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, Spangle Call Lilli Line, Supercar, the list could go on), instrumental hiphop, rap (of the conscious/boom bap kind), psychedelic rock...
I also rekindled my love for so-called classic trance and goa. New school goa as well.
Today, I listen to everything. Aside from "danseband". And metal with excessive growling/screaming. Also staying away from country. |

This. While I'm sure there are a number of qualified trance gems produced and released each year, and while I regret the fact that I will in all likelihood never hear them, keeping up to date with/reaching back into the styles you're most fond of is time-consuming enough as it is. Listening to the occasional recommendation is about as much of a listening priority as trance gets in my life, and even then I'm almost always disappointed (but also somewhat relieved in that I'm further convinced that I'm really not missing out on much. |

| Trance wasn't my first electronic music love so I didn't really 'drift away' to anywhere in specific. I guess I just listened to less trance and more house, nu-disco, prog, garage, etc. |

On topic, I got into pretty much about everything, was quite into prog. house and prog-psy when the latter was becoming popular. At around 2004-2005 I started going oldschool and became a proper acid head. At the same time I was really getting into experimental and dark ambient stuff, a la Re-load Ambient. Most of my record collection comprises acid stuff from the early 90s, most of which I'd already sold, as I got rid of my tts a while back. When I was in Korea a couple of years back, I listened to nothing but classical music, mostly piano works. Then I went to Israel for 7 months, where I didn't listen to anything but live Jewish music, orthodox style, and very often sang along and grooved to it myself. Since I returned back home to New York over a year ago, I've been mostly into downtempo stuff, but am also open to listening to whatever I come across, whatever style. |

Yes, because of the diminishing returns I was getting in comparison to digging in other genres. I only go with sure listens when it comes to me finding new trance now like old L.S.G. / S&D / Platipus stuff.
I know for a fact there are quality tracks / sets out there I am missing out on but my time is simply spent better spent on genres and artists the deliver far more consistently. |

| late 90's early 2000's for me probably a period o around 10 years I never listened to anything else. Until I was in my last year of university in 2006-7. I started getting into drum and bass as trance wasnt quite what it used to be... since then drum n bass has also went down the pan a little... ive been listening to some rock - incubus, placebo, spashing pumpkins... then i went to New Zealand and found NZ Dub... whaooo! I still do consider myself a trance head though... i listen to trance a lot, but its just the music from way back then. |
