Anyone use this card? I'm in the middle of a move and I have a crapload of things to buy and realized that I should just open up a card that has some great incentives make my purchases and just pay the card off with the cash that I have!
So far, spend 3k get 40k points and I have well over 5k to spend and enough liquidable to pay it right off so why not.
Can anyone else tell me any other perks or anyone else use this card?
I also travel a lot so the double points for travel, hotel, and car is an added in benefit. |

| You must have good credit first before you can apply for this card so no. |

I have this card, I love that its metal, makes me feel amex black card special, although i know its not quite the same. Also nice that everytime I call the number on the back of the card i get to talk to a real person right away, no pressing one or saying no.
My interest rate is much lower then my other credit card and the perks that come with it are pretty nice :)
oh i guess some other perks i dont know if you know about, anything you buy with the card they extend your warranty by a year i think... also if a store refuses to return an item you can call chase and they will give you your money back. |

You shouldn't pay it off right away, because the creditors will know you don't actually NEED credit, and you get a lower score.
And why are you asking US about the specifics of one card? YOU are the guy with the fine print so figure it out yourself.
Reward points are great but if you can't get something you want from them, then no, not worth the extra interest IMO. Get a line of credit and forget all about credit cards. |

I have a pretty good credit score and I'm carrying about 8k of debt on amex which is well below my total credit line but in the course of almost 7 years I've only accrued about 80k worth of amex points and the more I look at the amex catalog specifically for travel the less those points mean anything. It's almost 70k for a decent flight and all the amex travel securities are available on sapphire preferred
As opposed to the sapphire card, the travel securities are the same if not better and the points look to accrue almost double of what amex is giving me.
Also for amex is giving me a pretty crazy apr (i think its at 21%) and I'm looking at either closing the amex or keeping both right now. The lines of credit are virtually the same just that sapphire is giving anywhere from 5x-10x points for using preferred vendors. 40k right off the bat could be an easy 50-60k in the first 6 months and that'd bring me almost right up to a 7 years worth of amex charges. |

| This thread makes me think I should probably get a better credit card. I definitely play it safe with credit. |
