Blue Cat PatchWork - virtual patchbay

New utility plugin from Blue Cat. It's basically a virtual VST patchbay/chainer. The plugin itself works as a VST, AU, AAX, and DX (32- and 64-bit), and it will host up to 64 VST plugins, that can be inserted in up to 8 different chains, in series or parallel. And, you can save the configurations for use in other DAWs, since it also works as a subhost. This is probably most useful for people who use multiple DAWs/plugin formats because you can, for instance, create a chain of VSTs in Cubase or Sonar, then open the same plugins and settings in Logic or Pro Tools.

Nice intro price too, especially if you're an existing customer.

metaplugin also does this and has been around a while and always being updated. Unless you use aax. Will have to try this out. The one thing that this can't do is send side chain sources within the chain which meta plugin can do. it is more hard wired.

Nice Find Dave and it seems interesting but I am trying to think when this would actually be worth having.

I can load 8 plugs per channel and I can't think of ever really needing more than 5 or 6 in a chain before gets too messy or you're just noodling for the sake of it. I get the platform transfer thing but other than that, I can't really see the need for a 3rd party plug to do this :conf:

say you have a secret chain to really make next level wobbles and wanted to use it in other studio with another day. It sucks that companies don't make a tool to export say these settings at least as a test file or preset batch.

Speaking of Blue Cat, I just demoed their dynamics plug in and its amazing smooth as hell. Its my favorite compressor plug in so far and i plan on buying it. Blue Cat is good.
