I've totally heard the track from 4 minutes on before.. anyone? Maybe Tom Middleton? Also being familiar with Peter Van Hoesen's output and having seen him before I didn't think he'd play something like that so respect gained. |

| Does sound familiar. If it wasnt the for bassline I would have guessed it might be a petar dundov track. |

I don't think it sounds anything like a Dundov track. Too funky and proggy. Also it's breakbeat.
I thought I'd heard it on James Zabiela's 2010 Essential Mix but I just checked and it's not there (absolutely brilliant mix though, by the way) |

Yeah i meant the melodies on top of the funky breakbeat stuff sounded like Dundov not the breakbeat part. What I meant, is whoever made the track definitely has some prog or trancey hidden love, hence why dundov came to mind. stupid question, but you did check that shazam doesnt know the song right? im asking because i wouldnt rule out the fact that it might be some sort of mashup or remix he did himself because it appears he ended his set with this song. |

| I haven't checked Shazam but I know I've heard that track played before by someone else. In my head I think that it's a Tom Middleton Liquitech remix but I checked on Beatport and it doesn't appear to be one of his. |

shazam is your friend and it is an old prog track:
might be one of his own edits to it.
edit: explains why i had heard it, this came out during my going out to prog event heydays. |

Ahhh thanks. I don't have Shazam on my phone :p If it can trainspot obscure prog tracks from 2002 it seems pretty useful though.
Oh yeah, I remember now, it's on Silver Planet. It sounds like it's the same track in the video, just pitched down. PvH uses Ableton which is why the transitions are very seamless. It's pretty funny though, I came across this video randomly today while going through my favorites and a video of a purist techno DJ playing probably was the last place where I expected to be reminded of this decade old prog track I hadn't heard it in years. |

Its available on beatport and hence why shazam picked it up.
and ableton is pretty amazing. Paul Van Dyk does some crazy ass with ableton that are just stunning from a technical standpoint that would be much more enjoyable if he wasnt using it to mix two crappy new unicorn trance songs together.
Garnier and Capriati are both playing age of love live now, Van Hoesen is dropping prog trance songs from the early 00s, milton bradley, petar dundov and vince watson are basically releasing trance songs and calling them techno, scuba admitted to being a fan of early trance, and ambient techno has made a huge comeback...... all this leads to trance making a comeback???
;:p :p
serious note, trance is so uncool right now that is poised for a comeback. I actually do think trancey techno could become a legitimate avenue for a lot of legit techno producers. tracks inspired by some of those early eye q and harthouse stuff and lieb productions would sound great and be able to fit in with what is being played at berghain if done right. |

Actually pretty much all of the Berghain residents have absolutely no problems with dropping some straight up Eye Q/Harthouse style classic trance (pitched down, obviously). Patrick Gräser especially likes that german techno/trance sound to the point where it can feel like you're in 1995.
And I don't know, I think there's a lof of trancey techno being made right now. The deepdarkatmospheric stuff as well as more melodic stuff. |

Yeah I know, its basically why this last year i have only listened to german techno. I dont have that much time to keep up with new music so its basically all german techno in 2013 for me. I am hoping that it spreads out of berghain into the larger techno audience so to speak. We dont all live in berlin!
as an aside, i was recently complaining about dvs1 never coming to socal and as luck will have it i am going to see him this friday!
either this next spring or summer or the next one i am planning on visiting family in germany and spending about a week in berlin, any tips on getting into berghain? only thing ive heard is to show up sunday at like 11am or 12pm and its easier to get in. sound right? |

| Yeah, on a regular night you can basically show up any time from 8am and there's going to be no queue but I find around 10-12am to be the best time. There's really no secret tricks or anything other than be quiet and patient obviously. Since you probably out-age the usual trendster demographic you should have a good shot. |

| J'adore dreamy-yet-funky breakbeat like this, would sound gorgeous at about 6am. |
