im basing my top 5 entirely on what i saw live this year.
1. luke slater - played one of the best techno sets i have ever heard. flawless mixing, track selection, dancing non stop, holy i can go on forever. i feel bad that people actually missed his set at output this year.
2. shifted - one of the hardest techno sets i have heard at output.
3. chris liebing - loved his sets this year at nyc, always on top of his game
4. guy gerber - that july 4th set has to be one of the best opening sets i have heard.
5. robag wruhme - wish he played longer but what a dj!
other worthy names for me that i can think of.
len faki - pure class, had me dancing non stop
sasha - really enjoyed his set this year at output, stereo, july 4th verboten. involv3r is also my favorite album of the year.
gary beck - techno producer of the year, solid set at cielo. omfg video siren best track evar.
speedy j - loved his set at output. but can this play man play an extended set at a proper venue?
victor calderone - always delivers. the output open to close set was awesome.
i haven't seen many "live" acts to speak of so can't comment on that |

I know live is tricky but check last year's top 20 poll to get a sense of who's up there.
Couldn't decide between Scuba, Maetrik and Amirali but Amirali hasn't been on the top 100 and Scuba and Maceo don't need my vote as badly. Hard to narrow it down to five, lots of great shows this year.
And fack, just realized I forgot Guy J. |

1) Leibing was a must after his Output performance.
The rest were hard to choose. I put
Gary Beck
Job Jobse
Psyk
Dubfire
I have to rethink the ordering..
I wanted to put Dixan & Ame bcs of their boiler room set but I didn't think Dixon actually played as good when I saw him @ Output, and their boiler room set was as a duo sooo.
Live:
RRose
Leibing
Speedy J
Matador |

Johnny come lately, oh well, thought thing went end of Nov.
for what it's worth, I would have certainly put some Ostgut person up there, prob Dettmann, or Nodge, after his ADE set.
How come no one here had that label's perso mentioned?
Live: the Giegling folks def. deserve more attention, the Panther Room night was well worth it.

based upon his set at the Rabosaal on 10/19, an unequivocal yes!
I ditched the Drumcode at Gashouder for this based upon your call, no regrets at all, so that says something I hope.
One of best sets, if shortish, I saw this year were Koze and Burridge at Wisdom of the Glove, one of them would have gotten a nod from me in the poll... |

Dettmann was going to be up there until he put me to sleep at Output. He was one of the best and the worst sets I've seen this year :( |
