an entire drive isnt much bro. its like a night on the city, if that.
i would:
first drive: OS and all software
second drive: all projects, samples, renders etc etc
then have another computer/laptop for porn, music, image-libraries, your personal documents etc.
then have both computers backed up to an external drive which you leave in a firesafe. also burn out everything important on dvd and put at your parents house from time to time. except the porn. |
That also could be a solution. Sounds interesting, cause really...I'm a bit perplexed using a whole new drive just for projects and audio related files.
My cubase folder for projects and everything related is under 3.0 gb and I've been producing for an year...I mean prolly a usb flash drive would be enough... |

I do
1 OS ( 2 partitions 1 for audio, other for porn )
2 Audio programs
3 Audio drive `( current projects , recording . bouncing )
4-6 Storage
1 and 2 are pretty redundant and could be put on the same drive |

its incredible how PC's and anything not official like porn or torrents or really anything like a file sharing site don't mix. PCs remind me of like post AIDS. No fun. OH well. They are fantastic as slaves were you don't install anything but legit software and don't have it touching the internet.
ing might just get the mac pro. I had to recreate my mbr the other dray for some reason as i migrate to a bigger SSD with the command line. i mean only in pc world does a computer become so stupid that it can't just assume maybe this disk is bootable and if i'm not booting, i will just boot this and see what happens. I don't understand how anyone that doesn't know programming and computers at a moderate level can operate a PC. |

Didn't realize that you had come over to the dark side. Are you on X3? If not, you should be. |

I keep telling people this and I get a bunch of about being "a mac fanboy". PC's are a ing joke these days. I'm working (actual work, srsbznss) on my asus laptop yesterday, and I get a pop up from windows telling me it's going to install a windows update and I have 10 minutes to before it happens. No ing option to postpone.
I formatted it under a year ago, and since then I lost count around the 130th windows update (not joking) which was a good few months ago.
So the updates takes an hour on a T3 connection, then it goes to apply the updates, blue screens and tells me the update was unsucessful.
Thanks, Gates, you cvnt. over an hour of my working day gone because windows is a POS.
My dedicated Window8 PC here at my business. SAME ING THING. Does an update during which the internet connection is crippled by microsoft's 90's era bandwidth update servers, only to fail on the last step.
All this for just $90+ shipping and handling. It's no wonder a report out today shows that windows 8 has not saved the PC market and sales are still declining.

Do it biarch. I have a feeling actually owning one will change your mind and you'll get all moist.

You're on crack. Those things are going to sell as if you get a free motorboat on Lucy Pinder with every purchase.
Every design/mac pleb will buy one just to get it and don't forget, Apple have done something very smart by waiting so long;
The general max life cycle of an apple product is 6 years - that is the point at which the newest OS is not compatible with a legacy machine of that age. For instance the 2007 macs can't run Mavericks (without haxoring it).
Every studio that has a mac pro knows the days are getting very short for their Mac Pros, and some facilities managers I've spoken to said they will buy them just to keep up with the OS (as most the programs are backwards compatible, but the OS is not). |

i needed a server and computer for my new design hobby. I just don't get it. I have all legit software and a i had to about with the ram voltage to get it to boot with 4 dimms, i had to fix an mbr command line style. I just forgot how terrible pcs are for creativity. I mean logic is ty but , i guess i will just use bidule for the midi stuff.
the boot thing is just ing stupid. There is no way you can have a functioning pc and not know your way around computers. I mean i am just imaging some girls i know that struggle with iTunes. Thanks god i still remember xp so i didn't have to work too hard.
Well the computer is set up, it ain't changing. It is powerful as but i hate wasting time. And considering i bought the OS , which lets face it , nobody does, i mean don't give me a screen saying your confused. Do something. Its like that annoying new guy at work that has to be spoon fed everything. your job is to boot. Figure it out. Use those cycles to just find a pattern that night appear bootable and go with it. |

lol u noob mac fanboiiiii. there are seven ways to cancel that.
but any smart person would have bothered filling out page asking u about automatic updates when installing the OS, instead of just hitting next like a ing noob :p
_YOU_ made that problem, not Windows ;)
And none of the other scenarios have ever happened to me, and I'm also using a Asus laptop.. So I'm gonna say it's all user error that's ing up your computer.
And you're totally wrong on the mac pro's gonna sell. They're not.
Mac as a desktop is something only old farts cling to. They've tipped, all reports support this, and they're not likely to invest much money in an ever-decreasing market, being the cash-hungry company they are.
But don't worry, soon you will get Logic for your MacPad, and it will be as powerful as any mac pro has ever been.
the design of the new mac pro is proof of this. that round tube looking thing doesnt even resemble a desktop/workstation. it's the last-gen hybrid thing, before they scrap the line altogether.
It's the ing iTrashcan.
