none of this talk from you!! :whip: lol.......
Staying in isn't really an option for me. Will be my last NYC trip for a long time before I start living like a troll in order to save for Europe. I wish there was a more "wow" event going on this year but, oh well, nye/d will be about hanging out with friends, being silly, and listening to some music. Right now, by far the best investment is Blkmrkt/Resolute. It's unfortunate it is at Output, but I'll put my faith in them to throw a great party once again. I really don't want to throw the money down to double dip or else I'd probably check in on Damian Lazarus' set a couple miles away beforehand. The third phase for Output is due out this weekend I think, and I'm hoping for another high attention name or two.. Maybe a "special guest" (Lazarus, Moudaber, etc.) could make their way over at some point? Oh yeah, I forgot that djs don't really do that kinda thing much anymore. :( The day will be fun regardless. Price and re-entry are huge. Maybe Turkey's Nest will be open for drinks and football. :tongue2 |

Yeah, that's why I mentioned her and Lazarus, who will be a mile away. A trippy set from him at Ouput would be cool on NYD. Unfortunately, the "pop in" dj set never happens anymore.
The whole NYE thing has really got me thinking of something kinda funny. Many of us speak of the "underground" vibe and the importance of the music above all else. How great an experience can be with people getting down in a dark room, connected to the music regardless of who the dj is. We have expressed disdain for how much of the scene has morphed into a rockstar, concert-like experience. And, yet.... a lot of us, myself included, seem a little disappointed that we're not getting the huge event/venue for NYE with the big name dj of our choice. I don't know, it's just funny how finicky we can be sometimes, haha.:tongue2
On a side note, third phase is out for Blkmrkt/Resolute and they have said set times will be released prior to the party. That should make the day nice and easy to plan. And, while I still hate that it is at Output because it will lack that special event, dirty warehouse feel, the lineup really is solid, the price is right, and its 24 hours long. :D |

this reminds me our ongoing joke from the night of dixon.
"if the DJ doesn't play the perfect blend of tech-house-prog-trance-minimaly with 43.5% vocals then i won't be satisfied. ONLY with that perfect mix will we consider it a good night."
*edit* ironically enough, dixon went on to play kind of a pretty good set.. |

Probably just Liebing.
I'll make myself a deal, if I wrap up what I'm working on before Saturday I can come play all weekend. How do I get a $30 ticket like Seb? |

I actually enjoyed Dixon immensely that evening. But... now that you mention it.... he did play more of a melodic minimal progressive tech set when I was really craving a melodic minimal progressive DEEP tech set. There were some dance circles, too, and not enough people dancing the way I like them to. For some unknown reason, there were also people walking to get from one place to another. Too many drunk people, too.... although I can't remember many of them cause I had one too many drinks. What I do remember, though, is that for a good twelve minutes the sound seemed a little off near the northeast corner of the upstairs bar next to the washroom. I think the opening dj played a little too hard while the volume was turned down. In any case, he didn't really get the crowd going enough and I wish he would have played harder near the end. The security that night was way to visible but, on the other hand, I don't think they did enough to take care of some problems on the floor. Around the third hour of Dixon's set he played a song I couldn't identify and didn't really care for. In fact, I didn't know many of the tunes he played. I can't help but feel, however, that the set wasn't "underground" enough for me. And finally, the lighting guy kept flashing the red lights on the kick drum and the yellow ones on the snare, instead of vice versa. Pretty much ruined my entire night and I'd love to hear his excuse.

reason is always obscure, but I cant recall a party where this damnable walk-about conga line didn't exist.
doubtful if many of them are getting at all, seems just like walking, no endpoint.

DeWalta, very nice!
saw his set after zoo this year at the TGH, good stuff.Even with the probably shortish set, draw for me to do this one.
worth checking out if you haven't seen him . |
