It's Chicagoans!
:toocool:
And our midwest US accent is just like most other standard midwest US dialect. If you watch any major television broadcast, most broadcasters sound like the Midwest US dialect, as it is obviously the most pleasing on the ears. |

For good examples of a Chicago accent, watch any movie with the actor Dennis Farina or Dennis Franz. Joe Mantegna does a good one too.
Also, the old saturday night live "Superfans" sketches provide a pretty good example of an exagerrated Chicago accent. (as in "Da Bearsss", "Da Bullssss").
Want a good Chicago word? "Jagoff". Similar in meaning to "twat" for you folks. |

it all just doesn't matter. The one and only important local dialect you really need to know is what a F.I.B. is. Though if you don't live in Wisconsin, you probably won't know ;)
But yeah, that whole SNL skit is pretty dead on for the more hick-like in the whole general area, at least until you get to the more western Minnesota to the north/south dakota area. Then just watch the movie Fargo to get an idea what that accent is. Do a search for "da' Yoopers" songs to get an idea of the accent of the upper penisula of Michigan accent. |
