Not hype wise, I don't think so. |
Clearly not everyone agrees with you. I certainly think the likes of Eats Everything and Maya Jane Coles have had absolutely massive hype this year. |

| RA is the pitchfork media of the electronic world, surely you guys have realized this by now. |

| I feel like most complaints directed at Pitchfork or RA stem from the fact that people take them way too seriously. It's just a bunch of guys' opinion on music, nothing more, nothing less. |

Eats Everything is actually a solid DJ, nothing against him.. what he plays is not really my style but I understand why he's getting the hype. MJC is straight trash. I don't think either of them are in the same galaxy as Dixon though.. Dixon's known for his long sets, his versatility. He had a gig here at Stereo in september and everyone who I respect as a house music fan said he absolutely crushed in a big room. I saw him 2 years ago at a private loft party, before he blew up and same story. His deep hypnotic groovers, man what a set. Like everyone says, he knows how to tell a story with his music. Technically he's sound. |

Pitchfork is the Pitchfork of electronic music. They probably have considerably more influence on what sells and who gets attention than RA.

Oh, I'm not saying that they're as good as Dixon, but when you look at the extensive media coverage (which is surely "hype" if anything is) and presence on line-ups, they've been at least as ubiquitous as Dixon or Tale Of Us, probably moreso. |

So if they're not as good as Dixon, what are we debating again? lol. Dixon is a DJ first, he does a remix here and there but I wouldn't call him a producer.
ToU have made some of the hottest productions of the year, and DJ-wise their sets are very similar to Dixon. They are actually good friends as well from what I hear.
What seperates Dixon and ToU from the pack is their labels. Innervisions and Life & Death have been without question the hottest labels of the year in terms of house music. |
