If you spent less time complaining about women and actually didn't try so hard maybe you would get lucky more often.

I hear this everyday, maybe you should stop for a second and consider that perhaps you are doing something wrong, not the women.

Believe me if they found you appealling, they would be on you like flies on sticky paper. I'm not talking about looks either.

Drop the poor atitude, Toronto is what YOU make of it. Perceiving Toronto as a bad place will make it a bad place, for yourself and no one else.

Peace,

Ummmmm I strongly disagree. The women here ARE cold. I don't think the people here that think that are the ones with the attitudes to start out with at least. It's the women, we go to party enjoy ourselves, TRY talk to a few women etc. In other words to have an open mind and do our thing. However there is only so much of trying to talk to women here and being shot down that one could take before getting sick of it. Yes Toronto IS what you make of it and I always go out there with an open mind but still think the women here are cold. I met this girl at a club once from Ireland and after a few months or so of staying in Canada/Toronto she said the exact same thing. That the women here are "pretentious and snobby etc".

First, you gotta get women when they're alone ...or not around their whole group of friends. Second, you have to beat them at their own game. So ya in a way you gotta be an too. You can't show them that you give a about them too much right off the bat. Like show them you care, then do something that's not so caring. Show them you *really* care only gradually. Don't let them think they're your world, and keep them guessing, until you've broken them down. It's all about breaking their walls down. Girls in toronto are all about drama.

Damn straight man. It's about keeping the girl guessing, or showing that you don't give a right off the bat (because then she wants to know if you like her or not, and pays more attention to you that way). It's ed.

Seriously! The drama part, you're spot on man... and it maddening. You do have to be an here. There's too much effort to pick up in this city. I live here, have all my life, and this is the only city in NA I would want to live in. But I had an easier time picking attractive women up in NYC and even God damn Redbank NJ (I was there visiting the Quick Stop. Great road trip by-th-by). Europe is better still (well UK and Ireland are my only experience).

Maybe it's because when you're home you tend to be a bit more cautious. I just find it's really hard to 'pick-up', let alone develop a relationship, with TO women if you're low on funds and out of school. It's the one thing I miss about school (and the only so far), it was a lot easier to mett and hook-up.

I don't know... when I get back from Europe in November I'll let you know if I noticed a difference.

Cheers,
Fats

btw did anyone bother reading the whole thing? Its not about quality of life, but more about how easy it is for strangers to establish themselves in a given city...

... if it was only for the quality of life I wonder if that many Canadian cities would be in the top 10, if any...

Villages in Europe have better stadia than this city

The reason for that is simple - Canadians don't know the meaning of the word SOCCER.... this is a hockey country, and therefore all the complaints about lack of other sports are useless (you mention a Volleyball, Handball, Waterpolo or something like that to a typical Canadian and all you can expect to get is blank face). Don't even get me started on the international sports coverage in this country... no wonder I haven't watched TSN or any other sports channel for a while, cuz all their programming consists of is sports on this side of the continent and sports in which Canada has some representatives. Sad, just sad...

Buhahaha, they wouldn't even make the top 100 list bro... but hey, what are you gonna do? Some of us are stuck here for a while, and we gotta learn how to live with it... until we are able to get the hell out of here!

And yes, Andy, I agree about that drama with the girls... hehehe, dead on! Man of very few words, but very wise words...

Canada has been ranked the #1 city to live in 7 years in a row
If this was quality of life. and not expat comfort level.....Vancouver would still be #1 like it always is, and toronto top 5.
Toronto is one of the best cities in the world, and that is a fact not an opinion. You guys can whine about the weather, jobs, or girls till the cows come home , but its not gonna change anything...

This forum sounds like a battered mens help centre....have you guys all been abused and heart broken on timeless occassions?
It seems to me that girls just want attention....so give it to them and youll be rewarded.
I think im a bit spoiled after 4 years at Western though. I mean 14,000 girls in about a 10sq.km radius.....all wanting to party. You guys should have seen the girls at the Max Graham Party. At least 30 of them were beautiful....dancing and smiling....not having a clue who was spinning.....just having fun. Out of those 30 girls....if you went up to them, smiling, and introduced yourself, 29 of them would have responded, "Hi, pleased to meet you. Im ____" Then you can talk about anything...school(b/c you know they go to UWO) music , whatever...girls like conversations, not guys who stand in the corner staring at them telling them how cold they are.

Anyway...just be yourself(or a racecar driver) and be polite and then attack...any girl who wont talk to you after that is useless.

it all depends on your definition of quality of life, the way you see it and others see it differs from what I see...

running around 24/7 stressed out like a headless chicken, driving an hour to live in the suburbs because housing is miserable downtown, stressed at your job because they could rationalise anytime, etc etc aren't things I could call advancement of civilization and life enhancing... the problem is its the standard in North America. If you ever recieve visitors from Europe, look at your visitor's astonishment at how fast we're running around in here, but we're so conditioned to it that we think its good and the only way to do things :(

I agree that Toronto is a great city...but there are some issues that need to be resolved...like the homeless, education, etc..

Couldn't have said it better!
Everything is running at twice the speed on this side of the ocean, and most of these people don't even know how to enjoy life anymore... but hey, who am I to criticize them.
