What layers are going on in this song (and how to layer trance in general)?

Alright, noob here :)
So I've begun making some uplifting type of stuff in Logic, and I'm just a little bit confused on how exactly trance is layered.
I understand the whole breakdown, lead, tension, build build build, and then the release, but what I'm really struggling with is what's actually going on in the climax.
What I mean is that when the kick begins to hit on 1/4 notes, and there's just so much going on. I've listened to alot of professional tracks, and there seems to be this point where everythings just pumping and it sounds awesome!
I just don't really understand what's going on: I'm probably not making sense, so I'll show you what I mean. It occurs at 1:31 in this song: https://soundcloud.com/astateoftran...war-of-angels-a
I really just want to know what elements are playing, and how they're layered to make it so massive.
Thanks,

just before the drop sounds like a snare roll, combined with some sort of "riser"
Then that squarish lead seems to dominate the mix, not sure about the bass as listening on laptop speakers...thats really it though as far as i can tell, not sure if that helps you |
