with another fine DFA act.
a while back, on my way to Output, stopped at 6th and Kent to pick up some chow.
There was some very compelling stuff coming out of MWH, so I went over to find out what it was.
a really nice door guy let let me in free (bit after mid. with about 30 min left in event).
It was The Crystal Ark, who I had never heard of at the time.
Made a note to go see again when around, and can def. recommend. Even picked up some of their vinyl...
"The Crystal Ark is Gavin Russom's body-centric, New York avant-pop collaboration with Viva Ruiz. The group began when Russom asked Ruiz to write and sing Spanish lyrics over a pair of instrumentals he had created blending his signature hypnotic synthesizer sound with distinctly danceable beats. Ruiz's vocalizatios took these pieces to new heights and the result was the group's first two singles released on New York's DFA label: "The City Never Sleeps" and "The Tangible Presence of the Miraculous"....
