I’ve always been interested in VJ’ing. However no matter how hard I try I can never find any decent info on it. :(

lol. I love Visuals, and i think that a VJ plays an important part in a party. I'd like to get into it, but i don't know where to start. You guys should check out this thread: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...&threadid=68218

Show your support for the art of VJing.

i'd like to play around with stuff like vjing it is an incredible new art and I believe it will get more popular with time. one day we'll have VJs that are as popular as real DJs

VJ K-rash blew the roof off last night at Trance Energy! That will be an interesting day when people say stuff like that.

check out www.audiovisualizers.com
and www.vjcentral.com and www.vjforums.com

and please ... DON'T POST STUFF LIKE " newb, what should I buy? " haha
( PM me if you have n00b questions :stongue: )

now first you have to know vj ing = big investment.

ok now let's talk specifics.

you will first of need a projector, and that's were most of your money will go, buying one used is the best idea.... 800 lumes minimum ... but that's expensive

second, you have to pick your "setup"

hardware, or laptop, or both VJ

you will be mixing loops , animations etc either on vcr, dvds, vcds, OR ... LAPTOP...

Realistic setup, video mixer, projector, laptop , and a vcr or two.

best thing is having a couple vcrs , with dvd players, and two laptops, but that's not possible for budget reasons.
Oh yeah, you gotta have your Dv cams.

You will need a video mixer , a panasonic MX12 is probably your best bet as a new user, and it goes for 400 500 used on Ebay

I don't really know how to explain the whole thing, cause I don't know what your questions are.

ask me "anything" :p I'll try to answer :toothless

here's a somewhat decent "tutorial"

( you can bring the overall cost down ,but it'll still be superior to dj equipment for example )

vj explanation

Thanks very much for the info jdat. To be honest, I have no specific questions nor and intention to start VJ’ing. It’s just that I feel as a DJ I should have an at least basic knowledge of it, it’s only fair. Visuals play a huge part in creating an atmosphere and, I think that VJ’s/Visuals will start to play a much bigger role in electronica/dance music in the future than they do today. So all in all I'm just trying to further my knowledge. However, if I have any further questions you shall be the first person I come to!
