no comparison whatsoever.. he had some incredible tracks but I personally thought his programming was more suited to a daytime setting, when one is naturally more energized, etc. Too up and down, short, tiny little peaks and lots of valleys. Too much flowless prog and not enough tech for my personal tastes, in particular the last half of his 6 hour set. I've seen him four times, 1 for 4.
Place was jammed, 5-1 ratio :p |

Hernan played from 4:30-11. His first hour was a very slow start. I found each hour got better and better but it was completely up and down...it had some really beautiful build ups but as soon as the energy was high he brought the tempo down a notch. I felt his last hour was full of energy where i thought he should've started like this from the beginning. The vibe of the party was a bit off...not your typical stereo crowd...more of a circus type of audience. Overall this wasn't a night worth $55. The night had no comparison to the digweed night - a complete different league of its own. |
I guess it's good I didn't waste my money then. :p |

| I enjoyed the night I have to say. The flow with him almost always is up and down(for the most part). He even says it himself how he likes to take the flow of the set up and down. It does kill the vibe I agree but that's how he plays.:p I had a good time and I'm glad that I heard him at that sound system instead of Toronto. |

Arrived to the temple @ 4 and was pretty surprised that it wasn't that packed. But it didn't take much time for the room to fill up. Even at it's fullest, it was 75% full.. I thought way more people would of came. The maestro started up with some smooth melodies, just to marinate us for the long journey. He was playing it nice and slow with some pretty solid transitions. I do agree that it took him some time before he picked it up. I found it very strange that the speakers weren't loud at all.. Someone posted that they upped the bass of the speakers but the volume was practicly as loud as the opening DJ... I really did expect more oumff from him. It was nice and slow building, a lot of up and down till around 8 am. This is where he really started to JAM. Nice builds, nice drops and some nice bangs. His mixing skills is simply legendary. The crowed was looooving it from what i could tell. Really enjoyed that the place was 50% full till the end. Can't say I was blown away, and can't say it was top 3 of his performances that I've seen him. This is my 6th time seeing him ( 2 BEB, 3 Circus, 1 Stereo ). His last set at Circus was sooooooooooo much better IMHO. Was a very cool party, but not what I expected :(. Was hoping this to be an all time best but sadly it wasn't even close.
As for the Digweed set comparison... There is no comparison. Digweed was in a different league.. different planet... different GALAXY. For me, Digweed was the best musical experience of my life... somewhat a life changing moment. I do agree that the type of set he played is better placed in an outside event during early night but not after hour.
Next event : GUY J and Henry Saiz.. Party on ! |

nice reviews guys.
the dj doesn't always have to bang it out, or just do drops all night to move the dancefloor, Dixon def proved that when I saw him at Stereo. Hernan had some really good stuff but it just didn't flow well, imo. That, combined with the mostly darkened lights and excessive dudes made for a night akin to wandering through Chapters with a double latte in hand.
The place was busy but at $55 and with tons of good bookings coming up at Stereo and even Circus and NCG, it made sense that it wasn't jammed. |

| I actually think it was his best set I have heard him played in mtl, and this was the fourth time, also meet and greet and told him we were from Toronto |

some interesting reviews on this one
i will put in my input
got there around 3:30 and it was not as packed as i thought it would be. the opening dj was doing an ok job but the volume was very low imo especally for stereo wtf?
around 4:30 hernan came on and this is where he started nice chill and deep. building and teasing the crowd up lovely. a lil after 6 he had the crowd right where he wanted them and just took us to the next level from there
at around 8 he did def go back down with tempo and overall energy of tracks. at around 9am i told my friends "he has 2 hours left he needs to take us back on a lil journey" and wouldnt you know it from there on out he picked it back up and remained consistant till closing
what a journey filled set, def the best i seen him. stereo was amazing. crowd could have been a lil more packed to support this genus but it was def a good size crowd and you had room to dance.
crowd was a lil younger than previous times i been there but the vibe was good. sound and lighting were on point
i took a whole bunch of newbies there from nyc and they fell in love with the club. its really something special
great seeing everyone from montreal and toronto.
i will def be back if hernan and digweed come back. thats one room where those 2 can really turn it out
funny part of the night was seeing 2 fat hairy gay guys just hugging and making out all night on the dancefloor...GET A IN ROOM! |

I think Hernan was better last year, not that his set at Stereo was bad, only not what I thought it would be.
The sound was a bit low too
Great seeing a lot of familiar faces
Now time for a break
