Oh, and one more thing about the oil debate....
Not only are we getting plenty of great-priced oil from Saudi and Kuwait, but we have many, MANY other possible sources that we don't buy from just because politically it benefits us to buy from the middle-east....
We could also get oil from Mexico and Russia, and they'd be more than happy to sell it to us, but instead we buy from Saudi and Kuwait to keep in good standing. Bottom line - we DON'T need iraq's oil. Fact of the matter is the majority of Iraq's oil exports go to the neighboring countries who also are against us....
So please drop the oil debate.... I would give more weight to the "personal vendetta for Bush to get revenge for his dad" debate than i would the oil debate...

B) I love how your posts are 2-3 lines longs ... you want to try doing a little research?
C) You seem to be the type of person that hates the US for the sake of hating the US ... you have some kind of inferiority complex or something? |

bleh , i will control myself and avoid answering you in a malicious way (unlike you) just like what tiesto12 is doing , we're both in "political threads" therapy (at least we're trying)
no personal attacks please , if you don't like my 2-3 lines posts then please don't read them , and no i'm not that kind of "US basher" i have my own reasons to appreciate NOT the US politics , i won't bother writing them again , instead you can check the previous closed threads , thank God i live in peace , but i wouldn't like to see other people living under terror just because of the projects of an insane man , a man who's the leader of the world , a man who has more power than the UN , a man who's enough unconscious he can bomb a whole country just because he thinks "it's cool" .
i hope this answers some of your questions , and no need of personal attacks please , thank you |

ABT: I will try to explain to you why most europeans are against attacking Iraq right away. That is, I can't speak for all europeans, but the ones I do talk to all seem to be having the same problems with the US-government.
First of all, there is Bush. Fair or not, europeans do not like Bush. His charm has so far failed to impress us, and most view him as a spoiled brad who cheated his way to power with no real qualifications. Before stepping into office, he had already tainted his relationship with the rest of the world with his unilateralistic (I think that is the right word) comments, and lack of knowledge of the world beyond the US.
His behaviour in front of the mic repulses several people, me included, as well. When giving a speech on serious matters, such as war, you are not supposed to be smirking. Furthermore, using "direct"/"rash" language such as "axis of evil", "with or against us" etc. leaves an impression of a man with little room for a nuanced world view.
Secondly, there's the "hawks" of the administration who behave in a similar manner. When Gerhard Schroeder says "we are not going to take part in a war on Iraq" that is simply declaring oneself neutral, and does not warrant arrogant comments such as the one from Rumsfeldt, about "stop digging".
More importantly, the Bush administration has a track record of consistently chosing in favour of shortsighted US interests, even if the rest of the world is going to pay the price (Kyoto and International Court-thing). International forums such as the Johannesburg meeting have been downprioritized in a demeaning degree, and stating "requirements" on Palestineans signals a imperialistic attitude. No wonder europeans are sceptical of the globally "altruistic" motives of a war against Iraq.
Finally, europeans have gotten used to being the ones who clean up after US intervention (peace-keeping), and we are concerned that if the middle east explodes due to US impatience, we'll be the ones who will take the heat.
As you (of all people on this board) should know, I am not anti-american, but I do not like the Bush-administration. Hope the discussion continues in a civilized manner (ie. tiesto14 stays out of it :D). |

Taha,
i understand what you mean, but on the same token, none of us want it that way either... unfortunately, with the majority of the UN against us, THEY are turning it into "you are either with us or against us" kinda thing for us... i can assure you we'd rather have a lot of countries just be neutral than flat out say "NO!" (like France & Germany).... but its unfortunate.
The bottom line is many countries don't approve of this war we are fighting b/c its the first war that america is fighting where it wasn't attacked first - this is preventative warfare. Now, its unfortunate that the other world leaders fail to see the preventative measure how we do - they'd rather wait until some poor country was attacked and hundreds or possibly thousands of lives lost... i can guarantee you that Iraq isn't building up its weapons depots just for its own defense!
Right now Bush is trying to convince the other countries that this is not just an uncalled-for attack, but rather an extension of the Gulf War, in that we terminated the war based on a guarantee by Saddam that he was going to change some things, and in the last ten years, he hasn't changed anything or kept his part of the promise.
Now, Iraq is trying to claim Jihad (much like bin laden did) to garner support from the rest of the Arab nations... I don't know what the leaders are exactly talking about, but all i can hope is that the Arab leaders do not see this as an attack on their religion, but rather to oust a foul dictator. There are plenty of Arab countries that we do not quarrel with, and get along with fine. Its not about religion, but the fact that Iraq and the previous Afghani leaders were trying to claim that should show you who is in the right here.
In closing, i'd like to quote one of America's greatest generals, General Patton....
America's military is Liberators, not Conquerors!

Robby my bro,
-i think France and Germany were the only brave countries to say a categoric NO , not even Arab countries had the courage to speak out loud to express their opinion. and if the UN votes for a resolution authorizing the US to bomb Iraq , i'm pretty sure France will use their Veto right to express their disagreement , and it's gonna be a world premiere , as far as i know there has never been a country using its Veto right against the USA.
-i'm confident there can be "preventive measures" other than war , let's first send the UN inspectors back to Iraq and make sure they do their work and have access to all the places witout any restriction for the Iraqi government to see if these ones are really guilty.
-look at Afghanistan , it's true there's no more crazy fanatics on the power , but look how the country is now destroyed by all the attacks , look how much people are still suffering. doing the same with Iraq will only make the things worse , children have been dying of starvation and diarea for the past 10 years because of the US restrictions , and they know that. do you think they will support the idea of the US "saving them from the evil Saddam" knowing the fact that USA is the evil for not letting food and medecine supplies in ? |
