Spin Doctor,

Yeah maybe one day we will be headlining with the DJs. That is the dream anyway.:)

Often the best sets are working with the DJ's. I was pitching for a new night last night and talkng with the promoters/DJ's I was saying that if you let me know to start with some of the tracks you play I can tailor the set more to suit them the night.

The worst thing is that we VJ's for 6 hours or so and the DJ only do a 2 hour stint.:eyes:

biznology,

*Shudder* The bad vis displays I feel more harm than good for the 'visuals in clubs' cause.

As I am involved in the devolpment of MilkDrop it is the main focus of my work. I think there is a space for both the automatic sound reactive stuff mixed intellegently with relevant images. I think you will see more of this in the future...wether people notice is another matter though.:)

Thanks for the unbaised clubbers insight so far people.:)

Cheers,

Rovastar

sorry if it's ot...

but, r the lasers bad if u stare into them?

i guess so...but almost every event i've been to with lasers, they get aimed into the crowd, so i guess if u look into them that can be bad for ur vision...or are they low powered ones...but even a low power laser is still harmful isn't it?

I don't know the specifics but I think that a extremely short exposure is going to be non harmful......

concerning vj : well ... I started my residency last night!

and yes visuals are important and it's a growing community, but it demands a big financial investment which is major pain in arse :p

Good to see a fellow Vj getting the breaks. IT is not always easy and I have had some horror stories. :)

Me not too much focusing on bigger events for the summer. :)

I am sure you will enjoy AVIT 2 chicago,USA. AVIT 3 in the UK in October (i think) I will be at (cannot after the US of A atm).

The ppl ur with, the attitude of the others in club/rave, and the music/dj are more important than visuals. Obviously visuals help the mood but like someone said i like lazers better than images projected on a wall.

Btw, scantly clad chix dancing in cages rule  Why are things that are so wrong feel so right? :happy2:
twizta
please share the horror stories ^_^

jonsimmonds
personally the most impressive lighting effect/visual in a club are lasers

How do you get into the VJ business? Do you need any qualifications/experience? It's not something you can really practise in the bedroom is it?
