Sounds utter e imo

It's just a dongle to sell their plugouts.

In fact the only AIRA product I really want is the voice box to beastie boy with.
The Dark NINJA
You probably heard the default engine of the system 1. I wonder what sh 101 will sound like on this.

I think this could be a bit of a winner package, certainly appeals to me in terms of integration and simplicity. Who needs a computer with this lot? Mind you I guess it would still require a means of recording everything such as a hard disk recorder so on second thoughts that could be a big downer. Perhaps it's more aimed at live work?

I am wholeheartedly unimpressed. It's a 303 clone with stutter. Wow.

The synth does nothing that I haven't heard a thousand times before on every Moog and the drum machine, while it's nice to hear a 808/909 it's not like you can't find the samples.

One of the biggest things I think they've missed the mark on is the sequencing aspect; all those old roland machines were an utter ing pain to program on and they had a fresh slate to do something interesting like Korg did with the electribe or Lemur did or even novation did with the launchpad, but instead it looks like they spent more time of make VA clones of the sounds.

Ha, I know that guy. He used to be a Cakewalk/Sonar product specialist.

Anyway, System 1 seems like a very cool concept, but we'll have to wait and see how the whole thing pans out after Roland starts releasing its "plugouts."

Yes, but you have to understand that Roland hasn't released any of its synths (they call them "plugouts") for the System 1 yet. My understanding is that the current demo version that people have in their possession only makes a VERY limited range of sounds, which is why all these System 1 demos sound about the same with that lame Moog-ish lead synth. The concept behind it is that Roland will release VST emulations of its classic synths, but in a more modern style, and each of these synths can be loaded into the System 1 for standalone use (hence the term "plugouts").

As I said, it seems like a great concept. You'll be able to load several different synth plugouts into the System 1 for instant recall, and the relevant controllers light up for whichever synth you call up. So, in standalone mode, this thing will function as several different synths in one box. The big question people are asking is whether or not the System 1 controller needs to be attached to your computer in able to use the VSTs in a DAW - Roland is being very ambiguous about that right now.

Yup, apparently Roland is trying very hard to keep the new plugs a secret. Expect to see more lame hype BS over the next few months, though. That seems to be their MO these days.

edit: well, to clarify, I'm sure that Brandon Ryan has working alphas/betas, but Roland isn't letting anybody show them off yet.
DJ RANN
I suppose you're right. I just don't get why manufacturers are desperate to show their products when not fully formed.

"Here's a demo of our new synth, using nothing but the general midi soundset! Enjoy!"

cryophonik
I think they just wanted to show it off as a package. The other three AIRA models will be released first, and the System 1 will flow a month or two later, I think. I'm guessing that the original intent was to release all of them at once, but the System 1 development probably got delayed by the bug squashers, so they're doing what they can to show it off as a complete system.
Looney4Clooney
lol

their reference to the 100 series is somehow inferred as 100 times tier. They really chose a great name.
