Sick night at Story. Had never been to the club before and while I didn't make the rounds of the entire venue, I can say they've done a great job with the lower level and the sound in there is monstrous. Very close to Space in my opinion.
Carl Craig was bangin' it pretty good when we got in as he dropped Cassy's remix of Face to Face which is a trippy little bomb. Also dropped Beyer's huge remix of Gary Beck- Say What and Inner City's- Good Life acapella over some driving tech. Seen Carl a bunch of times and this was one of his better sets, even for a warm up.
Tale of Us opened right up with their trippy atmospheric layering right from the very first track. Not sure what it was but it reminded me of something I'd hear from them if they were to release on Minus for Richie again. Highlight track is the Untitled bomb from Fur Coat that they and Damian Lazarus have been playing since WMC. It's the track 4 minutes in to their TimeWarp set. Other bombs they dropped were
Mind Against - Avalon
The Drifter - Alone
Recondite - Fiery
Agents of Time- Polina (unreleased) :eyes:
Heiko Laux and Alexander Lukat- Lucho Part 1 :eyespop: MASSIVE on that system
Dan Croll- From Nowhere (Ame Remix) - bomb that will never be released buy you can hear on youtube and Mano Le Tough's recent Boiler Room set
There's very few guys in this scene that can build actual atmosphere and set you up for an absolute mind like these two. Only Gerber, Dixon and Mano are on par with them from everyone I've seen. Love the way they go from melodic to bassline heavy and then drop a track like Lucho on you. So good. All in all heard so much of what I wanted to hear, and never walk away from one of their sets disappointed. Proper club, proper music... all you can ask for |
