I would call progressive minimalist trance. It's generally characterized by complex basslines and subtle atmosphereic sounds rather than a lead synth.
Most of the time, it doesn't have enough energy for my taste. But when I'm in the mood to chill, a nice progressive set can do wonders. |

| Nice way of putting it dood. Progressive is like a mixture of house elements and trance elements. House has soul. Some progressive does have soul or funk try New Order - Someone Like You Funk Dvoid Remix. I think the heart is always there. |

| I agree, when relaxing, or doing homework progressive is great. Until a track like sonnet is mixed in, that can be distracting :) |

| I agree. I am starting to listen to more "progressive minimalist trance". I like it when im chilling or driving, but forsome reason, I get bored of it really fast when i hear it in a club. Maybe thats because most Prog DJ's ive heard suck. |

yah you gotta find your taste in prog. some like the ambientness of it all, some the near housey constant bass. i like prog more at a party cause you can keep damcing the whole time, not just stand there, wait for climax, jump around, repeat. it doesnt seem to be selling out as much as some trance. and if you get really into it, its the same as trance, just a different way of expressing the same feelings/ideas| |

the progressive you all are referring to is called Deep Trance.
Real progressive is more minimal and percussive. |
