What's up guys!
I was hoping I could get some advice on my next purchase because I am pretty torn.
My current setup is:
Audio Interface: Steinberg UR22M
Monitors: JBL LSR2325 with LSR10 Subwoofer
DAW: Reaper
VST's: Waves, Sonnox
Room: Long & Narrow, light treatment, monitors close to a wall in the back, 4 fee from wall on closest side.
All my mixing is done inside the box.
I am trying to upgrade my setup from sort of low-mid to high-mid gear. So I was thinking of either getting a pair of new monitors: Adam A7's or Neumann KH 120's or Dynaudio BM5's (or any other monitors you would recommend)
or getting a new Apollo Interface.
Any suggestions as to which would be the most beneficial for me? I feel like if I got the Apollo then my monitors would still be holding me back, and since I do not do a lot of Live Recording other than vocals, the real time processing of the UAD isn't as important. Also, I have all the stuff from Waves and I have never used the UAD plugins, I have heard all of the rave reviews but I feel like it can not be that big of a step up from the Waves stuff, can it? I just don't know what to do haha, I usually get some great advice on here so any help would be appreciated!! |

A new interface will make literally no difference to you unless you really wanted to use the UAD plugins so I'd forget about that. The steinberg interfaces are all good to start with.
The KH120's are apparently 'next level ' so they might be worth a listen. I don't know if they'd be any good with your current sub though, although I have a pal that uses them that swears the bass extension on them is huge for their size.
I'd be tempted to get a pair of good headphones too. |

| yep, i would go with new monitors over an interface. See if you can try out some monitors in your room, some will suit better than others |

| Thanks guys ^^ I was thinking the same thing. I'll go give some monitors a listen. Any thoughts on why the KH's wouldn't work well with my sub? Also, is there a way I can take some home and test them out from like Guitar Center or just buy/return? |

| I don't know enough about it, but with a sub you need to make sure the crossover frequency is set up properly otherwise it's just going to be a mess of bass. |
