| Hrm, when I think of "epic" I think of melodic, uplifting and being taken on a journey. Good DJ's take you on a journey during a set, good producers can do it in a song. |

I know it's an amazing track but to be epic it has just too few potential.
Like the above post it's about the hype, in how much people appreciate it, how far the track reaches etc...
The track u said is way from that imo.
Prolly only half of the guys here on the forum don't even know the track, see what I mean, too little potential...

Yes, I agree with you.
A lot of Epic Trance came out of the UK during the mid 90's by artists such as Qattara, Sunday Club, Trouser Enthusiasts, Heliotropic, Disco Citizens, Lost Tribe, The Space Brothers etc. Usually it has more 'elements' in it than 'uplifting' and has a lot of piano, lengthy intro's and dreamy female vocals. As with most sub-genre's of electronic music there are LOTS of tracks which fall between 'Epic' and Uplifting. There are also tracks which fall between Epic and Progressive such as Blue Amazon - And Then The Rain Falls as an example.

Art Of Trance - Kaleidoscope (Sunday Club Lens Of Atlantic Mix)
Loveclub - The Journey (Trouser Enthusiasts Mix)

Alex Whitcombe & Big C - Ice Rain (Heliotropic Epic Vocal)
I know some will class it differently but that's what Epic Trance is from my personal point of view. :) |

When Epic is mentioned I always think back to older BT productions, and such. Kinda 'epic' in length and intricate production methods. As this can be used relatively interchangeably with most new stuff, i liken it to James Holden's 'trancier' stuff (Horizons, i guess) and Oliver Leib. |

I define epic trance by sweeping synths and complicated chords, resulting in a spacey, euphoric sound. Tracks I would consider epic trance:

Alibi - Eternity
Hemstock and Jennings - Arctic and Crimson Soil
