Apologies for the extremely novice question,
In SHM's Don't You Worry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y6smkh6c-0
At 0:35, the bass shifts to completely change the tone of the track, what is this effect official known as, is it simply a pitch bend or a bass drop?
I've been working with Nexus and fiddling around with DAW functionality, but I can't get a good recreation of this sound which would be ideal for my current track.
Any pointers would be much appreciated. |

| Im pretty sure they made that track at least, you can tell it has absolutely no feeling, fake as contrived bs. Its amazing how people buy into that , its so forced and rigid. |

Yeah, like two years ago it was. I'm not sure they made it - from what i hear, everything they did over the last few years was bought and paid for as part of the marketing machine etc. |

A DJ I saw a couple months ago, his entire set was basically:
- 14 seconds of overly sidechained electro house
- TAPE STOP!
- 14 more seconds
- Reverberated snare!
- 7 awkward seconds of some dubsteppy crap
- TAPE STOP!
Why did he do that?? :nervous: |

Was it ingrosso? amirite?
That is flow of a 2 hour SHM club set, as they are "ing this club in the " (that's actually a real quite from them when asked in an interview what they were going to play that night in Vegas). |

| that guy keeps mentioning sidechaining. Side chaining and the overuse was a thing 8 years ago. You sound like some muppet that read a magazine. You make dance music, side chaining. wether you do it via traditional side chain or envelopes is probably your most useful tool. |

Nah, it was some guy called Matthew Bentley, I think just a local fella...but that's probably the stupidest thing I've heard for a good while. Almost as cringy as the time I heard Cher Lloyd's "Swagger Jagger" described as having a trance beat...oddly enough, that song was produced by SHM. |

You don't seem to understand the concept here. SHM don't produce anything. They haven't for a long time - it's all ghost studio monkeys with NDA's, so the brothers odorous can fist pump in front of the decks at the Hard Rock cafe.
....but something is amiss here - I'm starting to get the idea you're not who you say you are. No American has ever heard of Cher Lloyd (I'm English and had to google it), let alone someone living in Minneapolis, so I think you've just given yourself away.
And Richmeister is right; sidechain is such an old subject it's not even worth mentioning. We finished going through the sidechain complaint phase maybe 5 years ago, and the tape stop is hardly news - SHM are to dance music what Jay Leno is to jokes - by them time it gets to them everyone else has already left the venue. |
