Roland AIRA (TR-8, TB-3...)

Anyone looking forward to these units? They're being released in a few days, I think. The TR-8 is a supposed faithful recreation of the TR-808 and TR-909 in one machine, including some on-board fx and a 'scatter' function. The TB-3 will be akin to the original TB-303, with additional effects and sounds.
The prices for these machines are quite cheap, relative to their original counterparts, and from some online demos, they sound damned good.
All the AIRA products will feature Analog Circuit Behavior, which Roland describes thus:
"Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) is the technology behind the authentic sound and responsive behavior of the AIRA products. It faithfully captures the sound and feel of some our most revered classics, using original design specs, consultation with original engineers, and a detailed, part-by-part analysis of each analog circuit in our own pristine units."
Anyone else looking forward to this? I'm thinking of picking up a TR-8.

Here he uses all 4 AIRA machines at once:

Everybody needs a TB-3.
The prices are very reasonable too, I was almost gonna track down a Groovebox since the 303s on Ebay are pricey. You can now have yourself a nice acid jam session...TR-8 looks nice btw and the TB-3 sounds for the most part identical. I would like it just for a toy:D
Was wondering if Roland was ever going to modernize their equipment which still makes a good amount of popular music since the 80's. |

| They should just reissue the 303 and 101, especially 101.. They would make tons of money and they still sound better then these new synths imo |

You could also get a x0xb0x for around $400, which is really nice too. But the TB-3 will only sell for around $299. I' get one, but I already have a x0x.

It's not so easy. They would still be very costly because they're analog. With these new AIRA products, they've emulated the analog circuits of the original machines, and from what it seems, they sound quite good and similar. And you can pay dirt cheap for these new ones, compared to the originals. |

| I'm wondering if it's capable of getting those thick and fuzzy basslines like the original? Some of sounds in the demo have that sterile feel to it. |

| Just ordered the TB-3, looking forward to wasting hours making acid lines that I never use for anything. |

| TR-8 looks dope, might have to get one. What's the retail price going to be? |

I think so. You'd just probably have to hook it up to a mixer and raise the gain to make it sound thick and distorted.

Where, and for how much? This is relevant to my interests. |

I ordered mine from Sweetwater for 300 USD: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TB3
Even though it's not analog, it's great they brought the sound up to modern times with USB, MIDI, touchscreen, etc. All the TB-303 VSTs I have screwed around with over the years feel like pulling teeth and don't even sound all that great. I think not being analog is also a strength as its no longer a major investment to get a 303, not to mention the time and effort required to mod one to support MIDI.
I don't expect to make anything amazing as I don't have the spare time to invest alot of hours into production, but this type of thing will be great just to mess around with. |
