I've been trying to figure out how to replicate this sound for ages...you can hear it in a lot of german tunes, such as here @ 1:57

1:10

6:36

Would prefer to use Sylenth, if that matters.

You can go for many options to get that typical trance gate pad

1) many synths has it's own trance gated pads, as sylenth1, nexus, gladiator, dune, etc
2) choose or create the pad you want and use an LFO with a 1/16T or something similiar that controls the volume
3) use a step sequencer over a pad sound
4) (the one I use the most) run the pad sound over the camel audio plug in named camel space it's perfect for rhythmic effects.

I hope this helps

Well, I usually make my gates by midi programming but I was moreso wondering about the actual synth used. Any idea where it came from and/or how to replicate it?

well, for the first example I assume it's the same sound as in binary finary - 1998. I have the same sound in Nexus in the DanceXPvol2 expansion it's called "golden sound" or something like that I don't remeber.

For the Ayla track I bet it's a choir pad from the classic Roland JP8000 so I think you can get that sound in Sylenth1

check this out, maybe can help you

I think there are a lot of choir pads presets out there for many of the most used VST synths
