| Hey guys, Looking into a new set of monitors. Have myself a set of AKG k702 Headphones and although they are great for the high end they really struggle with the lows. Anyone any recommendations for me? Yamaha hs8's look very good for the price and have my eyes on them. Only been producing a few months and I feel this is the only thing missing that I'll need to get sorted out. Also looking into giving my room a little acoustic treatment as well to get the best out of the new monitors obviously so any advice in that department would be appreciated also. |

Just buy some. Having monitors is always better than not having monitors. Rann will bend you over and pillage your butthole if you by KRKs, but I know of a few producers who are extremely talented and use KRKs, Seandroid for example.
Have a pair of monitors, LEARN how they sound, and learn how to reference. Learning how they sound, referencing and eventually understanding how translation works is the real key. |

This be the truth, but there is something to be said for the quality of the monitors. Some translate better than others, and even translation can be a personal thing. For instance, when I first had to use B&W 802's it took me ages (several months) to hear what was going on, whereas when I first used dynaudios, it was nearly instant.
There is nothing wrong with the B&W's as such; just my own hearing perception/curves/experience had to do much more to get to understand them - it's a personal thing and you'll find certain monitors easier to work with than others. |

| I remember when I had KRK's. The lack of bass on them was so horrible that my farts produced better low frequencies. |
