i still think its absurd to delete's ones comments and replace it with your ticket purchase links. it seems like thats the most important thing nowadays. there was enough informtion on the original thread as far as i know. i did say where it was and date of the party. when you make a thread, it doesnt say that you have to include ticket links. in fact this party had no ticket links originally because of all that unnecessary endless/sankeys ticket sales codes.
i have made numerous threads about many parties on this bulletin board before. but none of them was deleted then replace with other people's comments before.
im not trying to start an argument over here but i feel like its not right for someone to be a moderator and a huge promoter on the same bulletin board, there i said it.
no more event making threads from me, i will leave that to official posters on this forum |
From what I understand the original event post becomes the first response once there's an official thread of an event. Event details such as ticket links or locations might be another story, but I don't think any discourse or comments are removed. |

Mods on here are involved in other work. I'm not just a promoter. I'm involved in several aspects of the music scene. And what about djs who are also mods? Do you consider that a conflict too? How about club photographers because several of the other mods host their own events spin and are involved in the scene on some level. I've beeen on this board for a while and even as just an average member. Btw I wasn't assigned this position, I was nominated and elected by its members. The previous mods quit likely because its a thankless job and you guys complain about everything ;) |
i had to read your reply few times and i quite dont understand your comparison with djs who are also mods and photographers who are mods. this has nothing to do with it. the fact that you are a moderator of this bulletin board and a promoter for a major clubs seems like a conflict of interest to me.
and you removing my original comment and replacing it with yours seems a bit unnecessary. since the original thread had enough information i dont see why that was so necessary to do that.
and mentioning that you are involved in several aspects of the music scene? thats really the the issue here and no one including myself is questioning how much you do for everyone.
in the end it really seems like your main concern is to create these threads and sell the tickets. i will definitely stay out of making threads now because i am not official by any means.
and complaining about things? i don't see anyone complain about the forum here. in fact i messaged you about something with the forum a while back and you haven't gotten back to me. i didn't complain about that or made a big fuss either. |

i deleted the original thread so im not gonna discuss about what exactly happened.
maybe its better off if no one makes event threads here and we can leave it to all the "official" promoters on this webpage. i just thought the point of this forum was music discussion and not a way to "officially" promote parties. theres facebook nowadays for that, we get plenty invites from people for parties every single day. |

I wasn't responding to you, that was in response to benjamin1forty's comment where he said being both a mod and promoter was a conflict of interests.
As for the message. I didn't get a message from you recently. When was this? I mean it's not like you don't have my # or my facebook too lol If you don't hear from me on here you are welcome to hit me up on the phone or fb and I wouldn't mind.
In response to promoting on facebook, it's quite ineffective for promotion these days unless you pay to promote your posts.

Ok, I see what you are saying here and I am not trying to be unfair or take any credit away from you creating the thread. In the future I will leave the OP's comment there and create a divider and just add additional information below the original post if it's necessary. I think that should be enough of a compromise to resolve the issue. |

What Brad describes as his understanding isn't how I've seen it myself, and it shouldn't be.
The way it should be is, if the official event info comes available after the original post, then that info should be added as the first comment, so providing value to all.
This seems to be what Z. is proposing, and that sounds reasonable to me.
Actually that IS how you've done it with stuff I've posted in the past, so I don't even understand why that was changed.
The thing that got people's goat, was: going in, and changing what a member posted (rather than appending to it), when it appeared to be commercially driven. If the mod were, say, me (and yes, thanks for your time, cause it is definitely that, and i couldn't do it), I could make such a go-in-and-change move, but I wouldn't for lack of any reason such as promoting.
I actually am glad that Sankey's has an agreement with all of its promoters to handle it this way, because that will keep the multiple posts (in the past multiple threads too) with the same info from piling up.
But that doesn't bind anyone unrelated to Sankeys, or not wanting to work with them to anything, and Sankey's can't force those people to accept their terms.
I state this because of Brad's comments about ticket links being ok to change.
Let's assume a venue has more than one ticket vendor (plenty of them do) and someone posts one. Should that be deleted in favor of one of the other links against the wishes or intent of the original poster?
I don't think that would be proper, and see no right for it to be done.
Z. won't, she's said so, but as a matter of principle, think that should be said.
As a matter of fact, I don't like certain vendors much, because of their high fees (often about 20%), and only use them when they're the only vendor. So I wouldn't make any effor to add a link to that site if an alternate existed (like t-fly or RA, that only charge about 12%), and think it should be left alone in whatever form it's in.
(oh, and I'll still do my best to fill up the new events site with stuff you might find totally uninteresting :) ) |

i sent it to your pm few weeks ago on ta. it wasnt a serious issue (especially now) so i did not pursue it by other means.
im fine with that. like i said, it was mainly because my post were deleted. i am not really in it to get credit for the thread or want any recognition. i simply make threads of parties that interest me along with other friends i have here on this forum. |

This, there are PLENTY of online resources for promoters to promote their parties. TA is cool because it allows MUSIC fans the ability to share opinions and information about music. If I want to be bombarded with spam from official promoters, I'll just go to sites like wantickets.com or even Facebook.
"Owning" a thread. What a joke. Go yourself. |
