Culprit Rooftop @ The Standard with Maya Jane Coles 4/27

Having wrapped up the Sessions at The Standard 5 year run in 2013, the Culprit clan couldn't resist the magnetic pull of the famed rooftop terrace it has called its spiritual home since March of 2008. And so we return for a couple of special events tailor-made for a very small group of artists that have always been near the top of our wanted list for the rooftop.
First up is the inimitable Maya Jane Coles. It seems like just a few moons ago this uber-talented techno pixie burst through with a series of exceptional releases. In 4 relatively short years, Maya Jane Coles went from a promising young artist to a legitimate power player in this scene, one of the most respected and in-demand producers and DJs around.
She has been a fleeting presence in Southern California, with a couple of festival/big club shows under her belt. We are ecstatic to be able to furnish an immediate and intimate setting for her immense talent and charisma.
MJC will be joined by a full-flegded member of the global Culprit band of gypsies, Edu Imbernon. Based in Spain, Edu has been the producer to watch for a few years, with his star rising steadily, which have culminated recently in remix commissions by none other than The XX and Hot Natured. Edu (and his Los Suruba partners) were responsible for one of Culprit's jams of last year, "Fayer." We are happy to bring him for his LA debut.

doesnt look like it and i think culprit is only having 2 maybe 3 rooftop parties this year. not the once a month thing like before |

yeah i remember andrei telling me a couple times at the beginning of the season last year that they were wrapping them up, but then amending that to say there'd be a few this year (i got the impression that it had something to do with retaining a relationship with the Standard just to have that option..but i have no idea really).
Anyway, I'll miss the pattern bar after hours (and the after after hours) more than anything else. |
